Hey guys, I just got my fan belts replaced by Ultratune on Wednesday and the car seemed to be fine. I had a car alarm installed over at Autobarn on Friday and when I picked up the car and started it up, the fan belt started squealing. I found this extremely coincidental that it would happen straight after they had been fiddling with my car but couldn't understand why they would go anywhere near the fan belt. What do you guys think?
Is it normal for them to become loose after fitting them the first time? I read somewhere that this may happen..
any leaks from your car water power steer if not adjust slightly. too tight and your water pump or power steer pump,ac compressor wil be on the replacment list next so to tight you can get a pressure pack (spray can) of stuff to stop belt squeal's but dont think they are worth the money or even if they work hope this is some help
I had the same issue, i had goten new belts on my zed and as they were new they stretched a bit and became loose and squealed. So i just got them tightened. And a few months later i got my pulley set installed and they did it again and this time i went for bigger belts and ever since never had a problem. So just get the belts tightened and it should stop the squealing. Hope it helps, goodluck. Abraham
Ive got a can of crc belt grip, real taccy shit lol. works a treat for a while, but wears off after a few months. I only use it because my A/C belt won't tighten up any further and it squeals like a pig without it
/Me dons my Gates rep hat for a minute. Any V-belt / timing belt should be retentioned after the first 24 hours.
As its already been stated the belts need to be retightened once they have been on the car for a while for a proper fix, however if you really cbf and you want a cheap easy fix, you can buy a can of that stuff or there is other ways that work too, tipping some form of fizzy drink supposedly works, something to do with when it dries it becomes sticky I would imagine, although I really doubt it would be possible in a z but in some other cars you can get your hands down to the fan belt relatively safely, and while the car is running you hold a bar of soap on the inner side of the belt alternatively there is a product you can buy called solid lube or something, it looks like a crayon type thing and same principle, just dont leave it sitting in the car as it melts rather easily as I once found out, also you can use silicone spray sounds crazy but ive done it and it works and so far touch wood I havent had a squeal since that.
