Alright guys, possibly the biggest movie of the year. So I figured it was thread worthy.

Went and saw it tonight after months of anticipation and I have to say....somewhat dissapointed. Really dragged in places, the effects during some scenes were...well....questionable and the way they almost pulled the piss out of the characters was appalling.

In saying that, the movie still has some great action sequences, but they often feel few and far between. The sheer number of characters somewhat detracts, not because it takes the focus of the main storyline (which at times is hard to decipher) but because the characters just seem like they run a distant third, fourth and fifth to peters story. Spidey 1 and 2 had a central story and had small, but required character arcs. This just one felt like it was trying too hard to cram as much has humanly possible into one movie (and then some).

After the final x-men installment I was hoping that spidey would show us how to end a franchise correctly, but instead it left me unsatisfied. I was hoping to walk out of the cinema wanting more, but instead I really only wanted to have a glass of scotch, a few smokes and a relax.

    3/5.

Will be interested to see what other people think.

    This weekend...

I'm going to watch it on the weekend.

Looking forward to it because I really enjoyed the first two. It's still a tough call out of which Comic Book movies I like the best... Superman, Batman or Spiderman.

X-men were good too. Hulk was average as was Fantastic Four...I'm ho-hum about their upcoming sequels. Hmm, what others were there?

Spiderman is the only one I hang out for really. I didn't think much of the new Superman...Batman Begins was good but I still think it wasn't as good as the original...

I'm just glad with these new movies they are keeping the same actors/actress'. That's one of the important things to me when it comes to sequels.

Regardless of whether it's good or bad, I'm hanging out for it. I haven't watched a decent movie at the cinema's in ages...maybe I'm just getting bitter with age though...lol :)

I'll give my judgement in a few days... :D

    Cheers
    Rob.

I heard a radio review saying the same thing. Excellent CG but crappy storyline. Apperently Venom is very cheesy, bursting into song etc. instead of being "evil". More like the mask (Jim Carrey) or something.

The reviewer said wait till it gets shown on TV, don't even bother renting the DVD lol.

I will still go and see it at the cinema, but really holding out for Transformers :D

I personally liked Hulk, but it could have been a lot better. So far though, the best comic book movies are the 2 Tim Burton Batman movies (Batman and Batman Returns) IMHO

    Cheers

    Hulk was terrible.

Without doubt, the best comic book movies would be:

1.) Sin City - Two words - Jessica Alba
2.) 300 - Possibly best action movie I've ever seen
3.) X-men - Wolverine is really bought into his own and the storylines were good.
4.) Batman begins - Christian Bale plays batman excellently
5.) Blade 2 - go the vampire killings with a mean sword (and Jessica Beil was hot in number 3)

I've only fallen asleep watching one movie in a cinema before...and that was HULK! Worst piece of brown stuff ever!

Transformers will be off the shizzle as my black nizzle would say!
