speedo stopped working on the way to uni this arvo but then started again about 10 min later, i wasn't driving hard or anything, no other issues and hasn't done it before or since. figure i should nip this in the bud so what do i do cos i have no idea... i've done a search and couldn't find anyone with the same prob. (odometer and trip meter didn't stop at all)
    thanx, tim.

    Speedo fix

I had the same problem a few weeks a go.
I unsoldered all the joints on the speedo circuit board using a solder sucker then resoldered them all. Its a bit of a time comsuming job but it fix the problem.

    It could also be

the speedo transducer, it will cause other erratic behavior with the speedo needle, watch for it 8(

    ok, but...

hmmm, well im not real keen on trying to resolder all the joints, not that confident in my soldering ability. is there a simple way to diagnose the source of the problem? you know, with out pulling apart the dash...
and to answer your question hawkus, im at monash caulfield, cheers.

    Testing

I don,t know if there is a simple way to diagnose the fault, I drove round for a day with
an Oscilloscope connected to the speed sensor to check it out. No prob found.
Mind you after a couple of weeks I got bloody good at pulling the dash apart.
My power steering went stiff when the speedo stopped working, some default mod it goes into, equiv to 260Km/hr }D ???
