    Speedo has been working eratically.
I pulled the cluster apart to check for loose connection bad joints etc but could not see anything.

Are there any connectors between the speed sensor MT and the speedo?
How can you test the speed senor itself?

    Cheers Guys

Did that could not find any obvious bad solder joints

    Use a multi-meter

Set it on resistance setting, its a intermittent fault so it might not be that visual as its most likely coz of a dry solder join..

Follow each track, and using the both probes place it at either end, focusing around components, diodes, resistors, capacitors, etc.

now what your looking for is a Blank reading. "infinite resistance" so to say..
now each time u test track between a component wiggle it quite firmly to see if u can get a reading other than "0" meaning no resistance. but take note u will get resistance between resistors lol :p

if u cannot find the problem, use a very low voltage soldering iron ( usually cheapest there) , using very thin .05 solder. just dob a tiny bit on each join to freshen it up as solder expands and shrinks from heat and breaks away from its copper track over time

Just resolder all the joints. The start of that article lists how you can check the speed sensor.
