hi all: any idea why do i change all the spark plug, the idle suddent go up to 2000 rpm? engine has been heat up to normal working degree.thanks best regards michael
Just to confirm what you are asking I am going to attempt to tranlsate what you have written. Any idea when I changed all the spark plugs, the engine now idles at 2000RPM at normal operating temperature Is that what you are asking?
If cylinders etc were not firing properly or at all from either failed or poor spark plugs then TPS will need to be adjusted and base idle adjusted. If it was purchased like this then someone may have upped the base idle to mask the problem. Therefor performing the above solution may solve the issue. You will need a consult cable and tuning software to correctly adjust the TPS and base idle. When fixing or servicing your own ZX this should be the first thing you buy. Peace
YES. that is what i am asking... idle is been adjusted... but cannot go lower than 1500 rpm. thanks guys
i think his zed is mafi-zed's old car... it ran mint.. check the new plugs if they have fouled up or something..
Even if the Idle adjust screw is wound to it's lowest, if the TPS is not adjusted correctly or the closed throttle switch is not activated, then the idle will be high. There is also the possibility that during the spark plug change out, a vacuum line may have been damaged or inadvertently removed from a pipe. A vacuum leak can cause a raised idle and should be easy to find
the spark plugs in my zed are the different one.. i remembered they are NGK RIDIUM BKR6EIX the one i put in is BKR6EIX - 11 (according to the nissan book) i put my car in jetspeed work shop and let them change my spark plugs. i think they've done everything they can. but just cannot let the RPM go lower than 1500RPM. so i ask them to put my old one back in. and everything just fine. i am confusing which spark plug is for the TT. the zed was mafi-zed's. just bought over 4months ago. thanks guys
I have BKR6EIX - 11 in my TT and it idles at 800rpm. I'd say vacuum leak, probably one off the balance tube.
I'd be checking that the balance pipe is correctly sealed, check the bolts are tight and maybe replace the o-rings?
That's a bloody good idea since the O-rings can flatten out and harden up over time, I might just do this tomorrow morning, lol.
DONT use gaskett goo. Get new Oring's they are about $2 at the bearing shop. I would say they have put the balance tube back on and have the ears of metal brackets that are supposed to be on top of the balance tube underneath the balance tube and it isnt sealing.
Actually I was suggesting using both I use both, Gavin Wood used both on my car. On my NA the new O-rings, exact specs didnt sit perfectly and leaked... some of that grey stuff to the rescue.
martins on the money michael. we did a conzult of your car, tps wasnt touched though because adam couldnt get to the screw. your idle seemed ok on the tech day, just alot of white smoke. although that left once normal driving temp was reached. maybe you need to get it serviced again. when was its last service?
thanks for help guys...i will have a check them my last service was 3 months ago. should be alright.. just dont get it. i might thinking to keep my old one in the car. becoz they works in order. i remember trav had changed the spark plug. so no need to change new one. best regards michael
