Throwing up the possibility of undertaking a career change which is big for me in its own. To make matters even worse (cause I dont do things by halves) the job offer that has been drafted and suits me has come from technology park Adelaide just down the road from Perth WA. Now I need to convince the Minister of War and Finance (wife) why we should give up the brand new home we have built in the last year and shift to Adelaide leaving the rest of our families and friends here in Perth. Have already mentioned the Z fraternity and its strength in SA BUT Guys I need more ammo. So guys, whats attractive about SA and why should I move from Perth
PS churches excuse is starting to wear thin.

Hi Phil. Perth is such a nice place, why would you want to leave it?

The pros of living in Adelaide:
    - probably the biggest one for WA people would be the proximity to the rest of civilised Australia.
    - like Perth the weather he is better than the Eastern states, less humid.
    - if you have relatives like mine moving to another state is a great idea!!
    - we dont have that silly odds and even fuel thing, do you still have that over there?
    - in reality Adelaide and Perth are very much alike, as I said above its only the closeness to Melbourne (snowfields etc.) and Sydney then Queensland that is obvious. Also the Ghan up to Darwin. You are fairly central in Adelaide to the rest of Australia.
    - and as Con said we do have the Clipsal 500, or until Victoria decides to steal that as well :)

    Everything!!

The Women, the beaches, the hills, the weather, the pubs, The clubs, The casino, The city. The fact that it takes no more than an hour to travel from North to South and less than half an hour from East to West and that it is a long way from Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

S'pose I'd better oput a few cents worth in :D

Tech park is well located, and seems to be a very good place to work in, modern facilities with lots of opportunities, and good housing close by. Lots of investment, lots of R&D, lots of varied work happening there.

Nightlife wise, I'm more of a restaurant/movies person than a disco/nightclub/pub person, although Adelaide does seem to have quite a few good pubs and nightlife spots. Restaurants - as for quality, diversity and number, I reckon it kills any other capital city that I've been to, and others who live elsewhere agree.

daytime leisure stuff - from my place in Greenwith, near Tech park, it's 5 mins to some great hills driving (best in Australia that I've seen), 1/2 an hour to the Barossa valley, an hour to Clare valley, and only a few hours to Coonawara, so if you like wine, Adelaide wins hands down! Oh, around 1/2 an hour to some ripper beaches too.

As you've said, the SA Zed community is a good one (aren't they all?), and if you're into cars and motorsort, Adelaide is the Petrol head capital of Australia. Some fantastic cars built and live here, and some great events too - of course the Clipsal 500 is the pinnacle - a better event than the Adelaide GP I reckon. The Adelaide Classic tarmac rally event is held in very high esteem too - described as the best in the world by some of the professional interstate competitors, and equally as good if not better than the Targa Tasmania by others.

Location to the rest of Australia - well, that depends on your perspective. I like Perth, but if I lived there, I'd sorely miss being able to easily drive to Victoria or NSW for a short holiday - Zed events, car shows, or ski trips.

Adelaide the city is built between the sea and the hills, so it's long and narrow. Because of this, regonal centres have developed, meaning that the Adelaide CBD is not as 'important' as in other capital cities - you rarely have to go there, if you don't want to.

City layout is good, and traffic, while heavier than Perth from hat I can recall, is nowhere near as bad as the eastern states.

If you and the wife decide to come over - Welcome!

    hey hey!

    Adelaide is a fantastic place!
my only complaint (having moved here from melbourne) is the quality of roads!!
Melbourne has fantastic wide roads that are pretty darn good.
Adelaide has shocking roads that have holes of every description! pot holes, man holes, BIG holes! i don't know how many 18's i've wrecked by going over potholes!! crikey!! (that was in my old volvo(such a great car!!) however... haven't had any probs in the z...)
That is the only thing Adelaide has in my CON list!
    Everything else is fantastic!
On the plus side, this does help you develop your reflexes and reation time!!:p
