is it possible to put r32 gtr turbos into a z32 tt?? do they make more power? are they the same size? many thanks Kurt
You can but you wouldn't. Roughly the same size with ceramic wheeled turbines...lots of better options out there for turbo upgrades.
for the time spent modding them your better off buying a gt2560r or a gt2860rs . and they bolt straight on.. to do gtr turbos. requires mods 2 the manifold. custom dumps. custom oil and water lines. actuator brackets etc.. check out this thread on it from the US boys http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=2037451&forum=general&dtSearch=1
skyline turbos are t25 as well !!! they are slightly bigger. but they have ceramic wheels vs steel wheel on the z32s thus the reason z32s don't spit there turbo wheels out the exhaust when u boost them over 15psi
Well, most RB turbos are a T3/T28 based turbo (not T25) so will not bolt on. Not all of them are ceramic turbine wheeled as well. They are easy to find, usually very cheap, reliable and will provide gobs of flow potential but require a lot of work to get them up and running as mentioned before. The issue of spitting the turbine wheel is a real one tho, making it unwise to boost them up too farThey seem to cope happily with 16 to 18 psi. Thats going to be mighty busy in a TTZed! As mentioned before, there are some tried and proven turbos out there but the cost is usually hideous. The last RB25 watercooled BB cored turbo I bought for my VG30det I got in pristine condition for 120 bucks. Skyline boys throw them away in droves! For that price, i dont care how many wheels it spits!! Well mebbe I do but! Balance that against the work and time involved in fitting them against close to 3 grand for a pair of 2560's to bolt on. I know which way id go but Im not afraid to fabricate adapters and shit. L8tr E
your gonna spend more than 3k on modding the stock manifolds and making piping up. if u cant do the welding yourself. let alone getting custom dumps made up zed turbos are cheap!! 3k for 2 turbos and fitting kit is nothing.. yes you can waste your time on skyline turbos but whats the point. a gt2560r is ball bearing. steel wheel and direct fit up and larger than skyline turbos. then u have the fact that skyline turbos are CRAP!!! and spit the wheels out. how often do you feel like pulling your engine out 2 replace them before you decide to buy a proven turbo
The R32 GTR turbos are in fact small T28's ... they have .49ar exhaust housings (smaller than std manual and auto Z's) and .48ar compressor housings, add to this the ceramic exhaust wheels limit them to about 14psi ... so all-in-all they would be a waste ot time and money ... better option would be s14 T28's either ball bearing or std bearing (std bearings are rebuildable) both of these have .64ar exhaust and .60ar compressor housings ... these require the same mods ti fit as all the other T28 options out there.
Ur right M8, but Im not talking GTR (RB26dett ) stuff. Im referring to RB25det single turbos. Totally different animal. L8tr E
RB25DET Turbo's are T3 Flanged and would need to be modded. Although these highflowed would make a nice upgrade. RB26DETT "N1" Turbo's are T25 Flanged, Steel wheeled and would really only be slightly better than stock Z32 Twins.
Yes, yes it is. And just as relevant today as back then and will be sometime in the future when the question will be asked again. L8tr E
good and cheap dont go in the same sentence. people who mod on the cheap are the first to have a cry when it blows up. do the stuff properly and go get some decent turbos to start with. wasting time money and resources on old shitheap turbos is not even worth the steam off your piss!. at least with new turbos you know they will at least work and not having a gamble with some old shitheap that could of been sitting for a while that may be fkd to start with.
