hey all Just bought my first 300zx and was told it had cruise control and in the ad it said it did, in the test drive didnt get a chance to see if it worked while driving it home tried to use it and it dont work. rang them with in 45 minns of having the car and they say they wont fix it ir the bad vibs i get when i jump on the brakes, just wondering if im being to picky or if you guys think like i do and they should fix??? thanks
it depends on who "they" are and what the deal was, but shuddering brakes is not good and need to be fixed one way or the other straight away, but if a car is advertised with cruise control, it should work, lol cheers
Is it a dealer or private? How much did you pay? Cruise control in zeds often doesn't work. Vibes under brakes is probably warped disc rotors.
well that was my thought advertised with should work if i had of left it a week or 2 i could understand but less then an hour lol come on as it is my poor zed is missing so many screws out of it its not even funny it makes me want to cry
If 'they' is a car yard I doubt you'll get satisfaction from any complaint. Does the Zed have all the wheel and pod buttons for ASCD (cruise control) operation? If so, likely to be a minor fault.
its from a dealer and when i told them about the brakes all they said was well it passed a road worthy the day i picked it up (funny that my indercators would only work every now and again) lol at least i have that fixed now lol and i paid 11 000 for it but i have a feeling they robed parts off mine after i agreed to buy it to put on a stuffed zed they had there as well try and make it look better but cant prove that but will never go back there again
no pod boutton but has steering wheel button didnt even know there was ment to be i know i dont know alot about these cars either and am sorry still trying to learn
Look under the bonnet. There should be a big black thing with a throttle cable coming out of it that runs to the throttles. If that isn't there then there is a good chance the car never had cruise control and someone has just switched steering wheels. I thought dealers had to give you a short warranty I've never bought from a dealer, so never had to worry about it.
sounds to me like it would be a good idea to get one of the QLD Z Guru's to give it the once over and steer you in the right direction as to what needs to be fixed immediately, at the very least. When i bought my Z for nearly 17K i was told as soon as i drive it out of the caryard the "warranty" ends, lmao, with mine there were lots of little things, and a 100k service kit needed, after the 100k service it has been running sweet, other than me mucking around with things.
to be honest i dont know what im looking for lol but at far as i can tell there are the 2 cables coming from the front of the motor covered by the alloy cover no "black box" just black covers on front of engine so i have no idea ????
that would be great its funny cause the guy that told me about this site bought his car from the same place and had issues with his as well just wish i had of known him 2 days before lol
have spoken with the owner of the car yard and he has agreed to see me tomorrow morning but now im wondering if it even does have cruise control lol

Here is the lovely Caz's engine bay. See the black thing near the brake fluid reservoir (thing with the yellow cap, left hand side of the piccy)? You need that, and the actuator thing that is next to it, looks like it would have some sort of motor in it. You would need that too. If it hasn't got those then you probably never had cruise control.
thanks heaps guys just spoke with johnyamasaki and he coming to the car yard with me in the morning and he gunna have a quick look at it for me as well before we go over then ill see if i can go on the cruise tomorrow lol but once again guys thanks heaps for the help and advice keep it coming ill be here all night lol
