Hi All. Long story short, bought the zed from VIC and had it trucked up to QLD. Previous owner had to jack the car up to get it onto the truck and made various adjustments. Anyway, I need to find the right height for the car now but how to I make sure that the spring is in the right position? Basically need set up instructions for these coil overs if anyone has any? I've searched the net but nada!
The way I set up my coilovers was to: 1. Put one end of car on stands. 2. Loosen all coilover perches 3. Loosen spring perch until the spring has no pre-load on it. 4. Wind UP the spring perch to add about 10mm of preload onto the spring (anymore and the ride will be very bouncy) 5. Tighten spring perch locking nut against spring perch nut. 6. Adjust base height to achieve desired ride height (tightening everything off, and driving the car around the block to let everything settle, to get accurate height) 7. Repeat for other end of car.
No probs. This is the article I used to learn how to: http://garage.projectraine.com/content_guides/240_coilovers/coilovers.html
I have found that the height can differ from one side to the other. You will have to measure the height on each corner and adjust accordingly.
I did read that some where on the forum. Planned to measure a point on the chassis for comparison. Right now I feel like I dont have suspension and my car isnt even that low...so the settings are way off.
I found when I set the struts the same for the rear, the passenger side was lower by 10mm. The fronts looked pretty level when set the same. When I had stock suspension the car looked level all way round. Maybe its the coilovers, maybe its the suspension, maybe its the car. Either way this is what I had to do to level the car height. Its been mentioned by others who also had similar issue.
All zeds do this. I'd recommend adjustable sway bar end links if you plan on unevenly adjusting your coilovers.
