Semi slick on the street will be noisy and will pick up every little stone and twig..

But if you still want them I used Bridgestone RE55s for track work. These are available for the standard size tyre and are about $315ea. (225/50/16)

I know Toyo Proxes are very popular as well but I haven't tried them.

P.S. I do drive on the road with my Semi slicks but only to and from the track. They do sound like a tractor though.

    Cheers,
    Dave.

I wouldn't reccommend on semi slicks for street use, specially not for a daily driver. Wear out far too quick

    Keeps me in business!

There are some good tyres out there these days that should suit your purpose of a farkin good tyre that can be used on the track aswell as on the road.
have a look at the RE001 adrenalin by bridgestone, or if you specifically run the 225/45R17 go the Yokohama Neova's AD07's. Both are a decent tyre, and not too expensive.
Piece of advice, keep your eyes peeled for tyres with large shoulder blocks, that are supportive and precise in cornering.

Otherwise the Toyo R888's are apparently good ref wykked.
( i drive a falcon that is always is "limp" mode, so don't ask me about speed and performance. *wipes tear for missing zed*)

Bridestone RE55s, mmm Same tyres I have and are awesome!

Other options! The Toyo R888, Yokohama AO40 or AO32 and the Falcen RT615.
Have a chat to Gordon Leven Motorsport Tyres in Emu Plains near Penrith mate for reasonable prices.

They are extra fun on Cruises with lots o twisties, just make sure no other poor member is tailgating you as they love picking up stones. Have used these in Tarmac Rallies, weekend cruise track days, hillclimbs and they rock.
Yep about 10,000km so keep some normal tyres for day to day use, unless your beast is a weekender.

i heard no use of semi slick for daily use...yes sounds and looks kewl but it will wear out 5 times faster......

as for the nexen 3000, are they good tyres coz im about to get some rims that come with that, usually the wheel and tyre packages come with really crap tyres.....

Make sure they are NEXEN N3000 not N2000. Two very different tyres and compounds.
N3000's are a very good tyre IMHO, and at the current price they are excellent value(as they perform as good as many, more expensive tyres).:zlove:

if you use semi slicks for street

make sure you have some warmth in the tyres before putting your foot down they can be fairly slippery when cold, i would invest in some better suited street tyres if its a daily driver also

Nexen 3000 are good but got nothing grip wise on a semi slick!

As I said before keep some normal tyres and rims handy if your car is a daily driver. You could use them day to day as all the ones I listed are DOT complied but your tyre bugdet will go up with the quicker wear. There are harder compounds of the semislick available to though, so that also needs to be taken into account depending on your application. Mine are the super soft and sticky bridgestones RE55s and normal road tyres dont have anything on them in the dry and they are pretty good in the wet to. They are very hard to get the zed unstuck with, which is a very nice feeling.

    ...the best.....

.....I have found are Yokohama Advan AO48's.:) Absolutely fabulous in the dry and the wet. BUT as previously advised , warm them up first before asking them to grip too much:biggrin: They also make a little road noise;)

    I use Toyo R888's

James, magic for the track, but to soft for general road use.
    Paid
    235x35x17 fronts $377 each
    255x40x17 rears $418 each
But that was a while ago, 16's would be a bit cheaper
Got them at Blair's just up the road from you.

I think get a quality, high performance street tyre rather than a full semi slick. You'll get nearly as good performance (might not need to heat them up as much as well) but better wet weather performance and slightly longer life.

I agree with the other comments here, dedicated semis are WAY too noisy for a street car, I have RE-55's on my track car and the are incredibly loud... louder than my exhaust. It sounds like I've got 4 completely shagged wheel bearings.

    AO-48's all the wayy

The only tyres im gonna be using....Expensive tho I paid 1200 for 2 265's

I've got RE555's for the fronts and still are fantastic
