Went to buy a new radiator cap and noticed there was different ratings including a 0.9 bar and 1.3 bar cap.

Obviously the 1.3 bar activates later under more pressure/ heat.
Obviously the 0.9 bar opens up quicker with less heat.

So I can I assume the 1.3 bar will raise the temperature of the cooling system overall? So conversely will it also take longer to cool?

I will assume that increases in pressure can also have higher risks such as greater chance of hose blowout/ water pump failure even if minimal in pressure etc What other differences are there between the ratings?

In simple terms, how do you go about selecting the correct pressure cap or is there one that is optimal for the VG30DETT cooling system?
Does it make a difference if you race the motor as opposed to drive normally when selecting?

    cheers

    More pressure is more good.

Stock TT I believe is 1.2 bar.

There was a trend here to fit .9 bar caps in the belief that reduced pressure would prolong coolant hose life.

    Hope that helps.
