It must have been last night or in the last 2-3 days (I havent driven it this week), but i came out today to realise my custom number plates had been stolen from my Cima :thumbsdown::thumbsdown: The plates are NSW custom black on white plates: PMPDDY This is a major inconvenience, because while i can reorder them, they will always stay in the police computers as "Stolen Plates", and this means police dont need a reason to pull me over anymore. Yay :angry: Grrr... I hate it when losers go out and prove just how low humans can stoop these days. I hope that they get what they deserve, and if anyone hears of these plates being traded/sold, please let me know...

That's bloody weak.... Why would anyone steal number plates for, it's not like they can just screw them onto their dump of a car and drive around using them thinking they'll never get caught... They'll more then likely put them on display on some festering shelf in their decrepit home for all to gaze upon like some sort of masterpiece. Meanwhile you'll be pulled up on the side of the road being interrogated by the police yet again.. Some people deserve more than the law allows.

Can I have your permission WokBurner, I hereby give you my express permission to do whatever is necessary to prevent them from attempting to steal plates in the future. I hear its hard to steal plates with no fingers :LOL: Of course i cannot take responsibility if the authorities feel that your punishment is more than they deserve. :angry: But yes i wasnt too worried about them using the plates for criminal purposes. But if they decide to show off somewhere, then I'd love to hear about it! Come to think of it, i saw a couple of guys in an old VK bommodore doing a real slow driveby yesterday while i was working on the car... They even did a u-turn to go back past it (same speed)... If it was them I dont know what would be the bigger crime - the fact they stole the plates, or the fact that they think their car deserves those plates!!!
I've been told in Victoria if you have a custom plate(s) stolen & you report it stolen to the police then you loose the right to display your No plates ever again. I think if I ever loose a plate I just bite my tongue & order a replacement. As I mentioned "I have been told this", I haven't confirmed this comment as of yet. Cheers Andrew

I am pretty sure i will need to get new plates for the Cima cos it will just take one annoyed cop and i'm sure will find a defect...

I'd still have the problem of them being listed as stolen plates; but then could have reported them both stolen and kept one plate for my poolroom! Has anyone re-ordered stolen plates here? If so was it much more trouble with the cops? My mate had 2SHY stolen, but that was on an Accord, which was invisible to cops anyway...
Stolen Plates I was under the impression that if more than 1 number plate was stolen you were able to have them replaced. If both were stolen then there is no way in the world they would. reason being is because it could be used to commit a crime (bank robbery. driveby shooting) Now if there were to be duplicates on the road then it would create alot of confussion for police officers. It may give the false indication that you have committed the crime. I hope i am wrong, but somehow i don't think i am.. Sorry Dom... Tez.

Must have been the stolen plates" They accepted the fact that they were stolen and allowed me to reorder the same plates, so I guess they have some sort of procedure for that... On another note though, does anyone have any good security ideas for keeping the remade set of plates? I realise that discussing security on a public forum is a bit ironic, but I'm open for ideas! I tried both Bunnings and Supercheap for security bolts with TORX/irregular head patterns but no luck. My friend came up with a wicked idea for wiring my alarm up to the plates, and i will be doing that. Anyone know where i can get security bolts?
