Just back home after 3 very long (but fun) days over to the SA river district for the Riverland Street Machine show. Haven't got time for a full write up but I'll leave this teaser pic from the presentation dinner to wet everyones apetite.

I'll posts up some more later, and if any of the SA boys want to add details from the drag day at Wakerie that would be great.

Well, we had an awesome time at Berri again this year..:) The weather was awesome (maybe a little too warm), and the company was just as awesome. Judith and I arrived a day earlier this year, on the thursday. This gave me a chance to spend friday arvo cleaning and polishing the zed for the show and shine on sunday. WYKKED and Blondie brought the mustang along, and red32 had his sexy red NA along for the ride. On the saturday, we were joined by Ant and Wes from SA with their sexy zeds. The zed contigent was small this year which was dissapointing (only 4 zeds), as I would have expected a much larger group from the SA crew.... but maybe we'll get that next year.... it'd be awesome if we could also get more Vic guys along to make it a truly fantastic display... The judges threw down the gauntlet this year and told all of us to get our act into gear and make an awesome club display, as none of the clubs really had anything special on display in regards to a club theme.

Also, I was amazed by the strong ford presence... Heaps and heaps of either XR6 turbo's or XR8 fords.... really nice cars, but I didnt really take any pics.... as well...... they are still just late model fords..:) But very nice. And which each one putting out 250+rwkw, its hard not to be in awe of the silly amounts of power that you can get from those cars....

Anyway, below are some pics. Had a great time, looking forward to Berri 2008.

This is us all lined up. From left to right; JEDI-77, Ant, Wes, red32

The oval looks a bit empty, but we got their early and these pics were taken early in the morning. By late morning, the field was full of lots of nice cars.

    Trophy winner list:

I hope I get this right, so please correct me if i'm wrong:

Longest Distance travelled: Jen and Pete (trailored the mustang from Vic)
Hard luck award: zxtt-1 (jack). Busted radiator prevented him from taking the zed

2nd place coupe 65-70 (I may have the dates wrong): Jen's Mustang

    3rd place Japanese Import: Wes
    2nd Place Japanese Import: Ant
    1st Place Japanese Import: JEDI-77

All the zeds looked awesome, they really did. And Jens mustang is a really beautiful car..... I love the sound of that V8....

    Cheers

nice work guys, my zed is just not show room ready at all. I think it'll take me 3 years toi get my zed ready for something like this. Sry i cant make it to these shows. I dont really want to drive to another state either really. But in the future and my zeds project is doing well i should be able to give u jedi a run for your money mate;).

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

Congrats to the trophy collectors (except I guess Jack would rather have had a running Z than his trophy), looks like a good weekend was had. Was there any 1/8th mile drags this year? I'm guessing no Zeds attended if there was.

With a bit of luck and the same sort of timing as this year, RedZedTwo will make the trip; the real target is to have her done for next years NDSOC concourse, which was held 2 weeks ago.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Drags at Wakerie Gliding Club strip again, Mikey (ie no grip). Wes, Ant and I had a bit of fun. First run was the best at 9.97 @ 72mph and just getting 3rd at the trap, even though I took it easy... short shift etc. Jeez, 72mph after 200 meters... even an NA boogies! Ant's TT was the quickest of the Zeds, and Wes's and mine fairly even. But it gets hot quickly and next runs were into the 10.0's. Only did three runs with times not getting any better, so gave it away. AFIK best time was the yellow Cobra @ 7.1/100mph.

Yes, it is known as an 1/8th of a mile. Quite common for venues with limited space.

  17. red32

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Chad, the track was the at the Wakerie Gliding Club airstrip, near Berri, SA. There's not enough length for a full quarter and proper run-off. No grip, but lotsa fun, because the NA's can compete on almost equal terms with the TT's, unlike a full quarter-mile where the TT's just run away and hide. There's not many other venues where you can claim a 9 second NA

  18. red32

    red32 You talkin' to me?

This pic says it all . . .
    JEDI-77: 1st, Japanese import
    Ant: 2nd, Japanese import
    Wes: 3rd, Japanese import
    red32: Absolute silence....... (but then, it's not an import, it's an Aus-spec! :p )
And in spite of intense lobbying of the Judges (well, one of them, anyway) not even an encouragement award. I reckon it must have been due to the OEM orange side indicators rather than the wanky cleared ones.
Next year I'm parking at the other end of the line!

Good idea Doug. If you had parked between Mark and Jen some of the winners luck may have rubbed off on you. After all........winners are grinners.
