I have recently brought a new set of rims and i've gone for a wider look at the rear with 10.5in with an offset of 22, and it currently sticks to far out. I was wondering if you guys had any tips in the way to roll them or could make them wider so it sticks out less. Any tips will help.
There's only so much you can roll and stretch before distorting You need decent camber and 265 to fit them .
I've read you can widen the rear guards a little by disconnecting the shock at the hub, heating the guard with a heat gun, then gently lowering the car onto the tyre, allowing the tyre to expand the guard over it. The inner lip needs to be rolled first. Not sure how well this works but seems to be a common 'back yard' approach.
I have heard doing the same but packing with newspaper can also help There is a thread on it - if you can find it There is a limit before the rear quarter buckles as blackbeast points out - I think it was mentioned in the thread
It is! Not as effective as professional guard rolling but a hell of a lot cheaper as well Slot, bend and finish is a viable alternative if doing oneself - but not for the faint hearted nor inexperienced
That's right, I remember that now lol. Brutal!? You're not going to just drop the car on the tyres lol. You'd do this over several steps at a time, heating the guard and slowly lowering it a bit more each time / using a thicker wad of newspaper each time. If done carefully apparently it works pretty well.
Its only brutal if you buckle the quarter panel Its only brutal if you buckle the quarter panel as this then becomes a major job! When you go beyond an inch you increase the risk considerably of buckling and your really heading into brutal territory! some relevant threads http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=328682&highlight=newspaper http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324594&highlight=newspaper http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318437&highlight=newspaper And the important thread that shows you how and that it can work if done carefully! http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313391&highlight=newspaper Good luck
