Hi all. No time to do up a build thread, but thought I would share a photo of my zed which has just been re-sprayed in C7P red (Toyota 86 Mount Fuji Red/Lightening Red). I still have to get the new windscreen tinted and a few other things cleaned up. Still deciding on whether to put mesh in the bar but after painting the cooler and pipes black, not sure there is any need. I have fog light ducts painted and ready to go in. Hope you likey.
Looking good man, give those headlights a clean and it will look even better. Wanna dhare the cost? Looks very well done.
super impressed mate. Great work. you should take it on the cruise4charity in the following months. I hope to have mine ready for then.
We spent a lot of time stripping the car back and doing it right. I have replaced every rubber and trim with new items....so yes I need to clean those headlights as they are the only thing letting it down! As I had my father-in law do the painting and a mate who is a panel beater do most of the prep, total cost should come in under $5k but I am yet to finalise the cost. The paint cost me $1000. Once I sort out my ride height and get my camber arms installed, I will take some proper photographs. .
Yeah I certainly will if it all ready to go. Still have to put the interior back together and get some suspension work done, but should be good for the cruise. Couldnt find anything about the event on the forum?
Wow great result for $5K. By the way those after market mirrors look quite good, were they a perfect fit or did they need modifying?
Far from perfect fit. Lots of work to mould them to the mirror. I have plenty of progress photos is you are interested. heck I might start a thread and drop all the photos.
You should start a thread, I'm sure there would be plenty of member interested in your build. I'm not surprised, haven't seen many outside the big brands that fit.
love the colour and finish. looks like glass.. amazing! i dont think tinting the windscreen is a good idea.. here is why. this is what i have been told. the windscreen is 2 layer glass with a gel in the middle this gel stops the glass from shattering all over you when it breaks. the problem with tinting windscreens is | | | | | | | | | | <--- inside car /\ /\ /\ /\ | | | | | | | tint | | glass | gel glass the sun comes from the left and: -goes though the glass -goes gel -goes though second glass -hits tint reflects heat -goes though second layer of glass again the problem with this is the second layer of glass is getting more heat then the first layer as the gel will absorb heat as well and as the tint heats up the second layer of glass expands (as you heat things they expand) this could lead to the glass cracking. this is what i have been told and from a science point of view i believe him (automotive tinter for 25 years) so this is why i dont tint windscreens. i am open to more knowledge if i am incorrect.
Yep UAS without speed holes. On the tinting....looks quite nice with the new clear winscreen so might leave it as is anyway.... but I guess a lot of cars have tinted windows and this is the first I have heard of this. In theory though it makes sense.
Looks brilliant! Pretty sure it's highly illegal to add any aftermarket tint to all of your front windscreen. EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong, have a look here: EDIT-ON-EDIT-ACTION: No, was right first time - from page 6: Windscreens Tinting may be fitted to the upper portion of a windscreen of a motor vehicle. The tinting must not extend lower than a horizontal line connecting the uppermost points of the arcs swept by the vehicle manufacturer’s original wiper blades or the upper 10 per cent of the windscreen, whichever is the lesser. The tinting may be of any shade but must not have a reflectance of more than 10 per cent.
That's turned out really nice. I'm also interested in those mirrors as in application & availability. Cheers Grahame
