Just wondering, has anyone here tried to order a replacement drivers seat? Or, the grey tweed fabric to have it reupholstered?
It's the one thing thats bugging me about my interior.

The seat would be very expensive - the foam alone costs a pretty penny so - doing it yourself is a real and viable option

I have a full set of tweed fabric from each seat and some extra pieces - you can have it all for $20 (its a lot of tweed fabric though! - so post could be a problem)

I changed over to leather hence why I have so much tweed

Thanks SuperZ, I just might take you upon that.
But I was thinking, to reupholster, wouldn't you need to start with larger pieces than the final size? Do you have already cut pieces from your actual seats or are they uncut sheets of fabric?
Excuse my ignorance, I haven't done this before.

I also have an excellent Passenger seat tweed, that should fit the drivers seat.
The drivers seat is still in good condition too!
I too swapped over to leather.

They are final size made to fit all seats in the 2+2- (4 seats worth) they weren't cut out but rather unstapled and unzipped off the seats (after a good wash - they will come up well as they are not too bad in condition)

You just zip them up and then restapled them back in - its a reverse process starting at the top section when refitting them (you start at the bottom when undoing them)

Plastic ties are ideal for the job to tighten the fabric, then use upholstery pliers and upholstery C clamps/ staples to secure them once tighten all over (they pinch into the foam and hang onto the wire struts)

(can sell you the upholstery pliers and C clamps cheap as well - since I don't need them anymore) you won't see the staples when finished and its what the pro's use

There is also a spare piece to do a complete bolster seperately

They will do the job nicely - will take a couple of hours for each seat (the back is only about an hour)

its actually an easy job and if you use some stiff foam (no more than 2cm) on the sides and plush memory foam (no more than 1.5cm in the centre) as extra on foam top of the stock foam (the stock foam tends to sag/ stay compressed after 20 yrs and you can glue the foam onto the stock foam) - you end up sinking into a more plush seat with better side support (they look more plush as well)

Good upgrade for a standard seat - can be more comfy than the aftermarkets!

Hope that is helpful to you

Thanks heaps for that. Really appreciate the detailed explanation. I'm finding that the seat itself is is a bit wonky also. It seems that some of the framework could also do with repair. I'm thinking it might be better just to get a replacement seat, but of course I have to find one first.

If any of this seat fabrics is still available I would love to take it off your hands, I like the stock trim and mine is a mess. Happy to pay post or come collect.
