Ive searched but haven't found anything (not using the correct keywords?), and I fear this has been asked a lot. But im gonna bite the bullet, ask anyway and risk getting flamed.

Z1 and CZP have rebuild packages you can purchase, you send them your heads or block or both, and they rebuild them for you.

I was wondering if anyone has purchased these before or has any feedback/info on their workmanship/quality/reliability.

I'm looking at getting some work done but I don't trust any local guys, so was hoping to get someone with experience with a z32.

Im in the South Island, New Zealand

Must be someone local that can do it? You're asking for trouble in the event of a warranty claim etc.., not to mention the cost of shipping an engine around the globe

Yeah, claims would be hard and shipping painful.
I am open to suggestions on any good kiwi engine builders who are zed knowledgable, im sure there would be some, im just unaware of them. I have just heard soo many horror stories of dodgy shops, clueless mechanics, who didnt know much at all about zeds and their quirks.

I guess why I asked about z1 and czp is that they specialize in zeds and know the motors inside and out.

I remember reading (on this forum) that shipping an engine to the USA wasn't worth the savings on the core charge.

There is a Kiwi guy on this forum who could steer you in the right direction.
    Mungz? Mungnz?

Chat to Mungyz, he has an excellent depth on rebuilds and what can be done locally.
Zeds are quite an extensive platform of many options.
Your best bet for value is asking Mungyz if he can ship you a direct replacement ?

Yes and we have gone from US$ parity to NZ$ parity, so if it doesn't make good sense there it doesn't work here either.

  9. definitely chat to mungyz as everyone suggests. maybe it would be cheaper to just buy a rebuilt motor from over here and get it freighted to nz? martin williams is putting up a race motor soon you might possibly be interested in

Surely there must be an engine / head specialist over there?

Not sure exactly where you are but a google search should bring some luck

I found this with a quick search http://www.motorreconditioners.co.nz/
Might be worth checking them out further - always best to visit the shop - you can tell very quickly by looking at their equipment and talking to them if they are professional enough to do the job

An engine specialist is unlikely to make any mistakes if they have been in business for a few years as they tend to know their stuff inside out

You will also be covered by warranty locally

I know it's been awhile, but I thought I might jump on and give an update.

Got the head and block rebuilt locally by a top bloke and now I am slowly putting it all back together, and replacing oem bits with some goodies along the way

engine is looking fantastic. Apart from what can be seen in your picture, what else have you done? I'm in the process of starting a build, so I'm curious about what you decided to replace/upgrade and anything else you think is worth mentioning :)

    Cheers man.
The aim is just a stock rebuild, making it work as it should have, nothing too drastic haha.
Its got a blitz tuned 'stock' ECU (to my knowledge, a.k.a I read on a forum somewhere, that blitz tuned a few ECUs for greater boost and fuel mapping etc to match as an option new from factory). MSP manifolds, got rid of some of the burrs in the coolant channel, s2 injectors, BDE low profile mounts, s2 ptu, one piece drive shaft, 2.5 inch dumps and exhaust, alloy radiator, all new silicon hoses (vacuum, boost, any rubber hose etc.) usual deletes while the motor is out, Egr and coolant bypass for example. Im hoping to use the wiring specialities loom.
Still going to be using the stock manual turbos, they have no play and are healthy, so why not lol.

Just giving it a good freshen up.

It was an unexpected rebuild, luckily I got an old 3 cylinder diahatsu charade that runs on the smell of an oily rag for daily. I just want it done now, but I ran out of funds so parts are coming in dribs and drabs as I save up.
