Ok so thought I'd post here rather then have a massive clutter in my build thread. Sort of like a brainstorm area So anyways if you have had a read of my build thread you would know I'm looking at doing a rebuild or replacement engine if the compression test comes up bad. Waiting on parts and tools still so just wondering what else is usually a good thing to do on a full overhaul? Any tests I can do? Il be removing excess stuff today and getting it up on jack stands. Things like removing bumpers, radiators, suspension, hood, battery,aircon ect will be done in a few hours. Any ideas and things I should look at doing would be much appreciated! cheers in advance.
No need to remove suspension for engine pull . Look here : http://tech.aus300zx.com/ Go to PLENUM , PRVR , AIV and EGR deletes and bypass . Do the above and will minimize future problems and reduce clutter in your engine bay . By ALL new coolant and oil hoses . Give it a seal kit e.g. Plenum upper and lower , Manifold gaskets , turbo reseal kit . Also good to replace and rebuild : Turbo's see a2zed O2 sensors from CZP Thermostat from CZP Timing belt and pulleys (maybe tensioner) from CZP Lower rear & front main seal from CZP PCV valves and hose set from CZP Injector service see Pennyarvs Water pump from CZP Coolant bypass tubes from CZP
Suspension is all going to be overhauled too so that will all be coming off today. Already plan on replacing most of that stuff. Might skip the main front and rear until I do the gearbox and lower engine stuff. I'm just doing top end this time. Engine has only just clicked over 100,000 n ran great until had a slight misfire developing when cold. Cheers for the direction to the tech thread. Done a lot of searches n find heaps of crap!
Lost my keys! Girlfriend had them lol! So couldn't release the pressure in the fuel lines to do the plenum pull! Got front off and stored. Radiator removed. Intake pipes removed. Not much! Will continue tomorrow! Few pics of today's progress.
