Rebuild - Finished, just one problem

    Hey everyone,

Just finished rebuilding the zeds engine and got it started for the first time today, surprisingly all went well and it kicked over without to much hassle!

The only problem is, it seems to be slow to drop the revs down, if I give it a bit of throttle in neutral, the revs just slowly drop, not like they used to before the rebuild.

Does anyone know what would cause this? is it vacuum related? as during the rebuild I decided to service the AAC valve (as per tech article) it all seemed to be working well and everything, so it may not be that, just thought I'd point that out.

any suggestions would be very appreciated!

    Thanks:D

have you checked for proper operation of your throtttle bodys?

when you rev then let go, if you try and push the throttle cable mechanism (the part you pull to rev) down in the opposite direction when it's supposed to be 'closed', does your idle it go back to normal? even a slight bit of tension on the cable end can cause a high idle / after return.

2nd ^^^^, also have you set the base idle with the iacv?

Already checked the throttle cables, they drop back immediately and the revs return to normal idle revs, just very slowly.

Maybee u DON"T have a vac/boost leak anymore and ur idle needs adjusting ?

but it idle's at about 900rpm? i know thats slightly high but i didnt think it would cause this? the idle is fine and smooth, its the time it takes for the revs to drop after you give it a bit of a rev I'm worried about.

Idle should be adjusted with the iacv disconnected

My car is the same. It drops to around 2k, then to 1.5 then slowly down to around 900 and sits there. Rock solid once it gets there, just takes a while.

New CTS, S2 PTU, new TPS.

No neutral switch but not sure if that would be related.

My car does that, but only on a cold start

If it returns to idle ok with it disconnected, remove the iacv and aac and recheck them both.

It may stall as it gets down to idle as there is nothing to catch it.

Ok this arvo I disconnected the IACV and the AAC, it idled fine without them (pretty much no difference?) but still no difference in the throttle response either. any other ideas?

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

mine does this also but only while the engine is cold
have you tried running it till the engine warms up
then turn it off for say 5 mins start it up again and see what happens

It doesn't seem to make any difference once its warmed up mate.

any other suggestions anyone ? :(

    Could the TPS cause this?

a few more details that may or may not make any difference,

EGR got removed during rebuild, holes in plenum and manifold blocked. N-power dumps and front pipes fitted, Aiv pipes just sitting there going to open air, currently the exhaust ends at the front pipes, waiting on getting this problem fixed to take it to the exhaust shop. Car isn't showing any codes (55)

If i think of anything else I'll add it!

    Thanks everyone so far!

if nothing changes when you unplug the iacv then theres something wrong :S
    (the idle should drop)

drop as in the engine will stall? or just idle a few hundred rpm lower... but yeah it made no difference at all really with it un-plugged.

The difference with it plugged in or not is only like 50rpm I beleive.
So you might not notice it.
