    Hi All,

pulled my rear subframe out and wanting to replace 4 x subframe bushes

i went through the instructions on the net on how to and everything out and clean easy job.

now looking at instructions via energy suspension they say to keep the main shell in the subframe then insert bushes.

my question is can i still use bushes without shell & just in frame ? as taken it out due to instructions

look here and see hard to explain so please bare with me.

Its clear that the shells are needed for those bushes you have so your only alternatives are to obtain some shells or else get another set of bushes that have the shells on them. Maybe Noltec?

100% NEED the sheels. Wasn't done on mine the first time and the entire bush pulled through and the rear crossmember dropped 3" or so

    damn thats bad,

so how would it make a difference on having the shells or not ?

how would the shell make it not slide down ?

Thanks Chrispy you gave me a f'in heart attack. From that picture though it looks like the bushes were installed upside down.

Just ran out like a bloody bullet to mine and took some pictures...

The whole reason its installed like that is because the fat rubber end is physically attached to the whole bush. Thinner end is just like a washer...

    ...H'okay... awkward...

not on the first bit of information it hadn't said anything about the shell, just said clean out, but until the day after when received the bushes and seen that it wanted the shell in there.

but still the question STILL is "Is the SHELL Really Needed ??"

Did you completely miss the 2 massive pictures? Check a few of the other replies mate.

Those instructions dont relate to either of the two bushing pictures(red & Blue). They may require the same fitting method, so that may be irrelevant but just so you know they are not the correct instructions for the bushes shown.

on monday arvo i will post instructions on current bushes(red), but most replacements say leave the shell in there.

and i took mine out, question was does it make a difference with or without shell.
