Don't suppose anyone has a part number for a rear lower control arm ball joint boot?

These don't seem to be listed anywhere as an available part, but I'm sure there will be a boot out there somewhere that matches up.

I didn't have much luck finding direct replacement boots. I found a manufacturer called Febest who make a whole range of boots but don't have 300ZX listed, sent them a message with measurements, useless sales contact asked for the car details then told me they don't have it listed! Duh!

Anyway Repco have a universal boot range, I ended up using their TE-2 boot. This measures the correct ID at the base, 29mm, but is not a press fit, so I used RTV sealant around the base to hopefully hold it in place. They also had a TE-1 boot which measure 26mm ID, which I was able to test fit dry, was a tighter fit, but next to impossible to get this on with the ball joint greased up.

So hopefully the compression of the boot and the RTV will hold this in place. There's not a lot of movement in this joint, wouldn't work obviously on the front with the joint constantly turning.

The problem is the original boot is a press fit, it has a steel ring moulded into the base of the boot that presses over the ball joint housing. There is no groove in the housing for any kind of clamp to hold the boot on, it's simply a very tight press fit.

Anyway hopefully this should hold up. The TE-2 boot for a pack of 2 is only about $5.
