Recently got my hands on the last brand new set through Nissan for my slicktop. Needing another set for another slicktop, being discontiued.. What are the options?
Yes rubberised coating, not sure if it is possible to have this sort of thing reapplied professionally? Would be very hard to post a set of slicktop roof trims without getting damaged in the process anyway (they usually get bent up just from removal and installation.
I have a slick top too. What I did was sand them down a bit (they had been painted) and wrapped with satin black vinyl wrap. They came out amazingly well and look factory original. The wrap is a very similar concept to the original coating and is compliant and resistant to chipping etc.
No it was really easy. I was in a bit of a rush to go on a trip, so the job isn't perfect (missed an area which in nearly invisible near to windscreen cowlings. It probably took 45 min per side including removal and and re fitting the trims (needed to replace some of the plastic clips). I think doing them off the car is best as you can tuck the edges of the vinyl back around on to the underside of the trims. No pics, and the car is away with Glenn at The Lab (his username on here is mungyz) getting a significant birthday. It's all documented on his YouTube channel, and you can see the trims in quite a few of the shots. Will post up later about the whole project (nearly 9 months in and almost done ).
