The future of the site that I had posted this on is not certain so posting here for redundancy. I'm sure there are some people who will find it interesting / useful. ------------------------ Using this thread as a journal of my thoughts / research etc on the wiring aspect of the swap using RB EFI harness / ECU because I keep misplacing stuff, and this allows you lot to point out the obvious mistakes. Diagrams: RB EFI harness: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f310/zductiv/RBEFI.jpg VG EFI harness + Main: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f310/zductiv/VG-EFI.jpg Skyline wire colour chart: Haven't photoshopped the main harness diagram from RB yet. Anyone got one? __________________________________________________________________________________________________ If we are using the RB Harness / ECU, we need to find the parts of the RB EFI harness that aren't self contained, and give them from the VG main harness what they would have got from the RB harness in the skyline. There are 6 connectors that aren't self contained on the RB Harness. They are labelled Z, O, P, Q, R, S. Since we will still be using the VG main harness, we should be able to de-pin the skyline harness and route a majority of the wires from through the connectors F2, F23, F25 (F24 ignored because it is for Auto cars only.) i.e. We are concerned with: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f310/zductiv/wiringaffected.jpg __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Harness Z: FAE2 (B) AF05 (W) AF03 (W/G) AF01 (W/R) AQ01 (Y/L) AF06 (Y) AF04 (W/PU) AF02 (W/L) Connector Pin. --- From --- To AF01 (W/R) --- Injector 1 --- Dropping Resistor AF02 (W/L) --- Injector 2 --- Dropping Resistor AF03 (W/G) --- Injector 3 --- Dropping Resistor AF04 (W/PU) --- Injector 4 --- Dropping Resistor AF05 (W) --- Injector 5 --- Dropping Resistor AF06 (Y) --- Injector 6 --- Dropping Resistor AQ01 (Y/L) --- ECU pin #25 --- Turbocharged Pressure Solenoid FAE2 (B) --- ECU pin #6 --- Water Temp Sensor Notes: Dropping resistor pin 7 (AQ03) goes to the Fusible link 6? after joining with PIN AF29 (W/B) from the Harness O. Water Temp Sensor Pin FAE3 goes to radiator fan motor relay Pin. #1 __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Harness O: NV11 (G/OR) HB04 (LG) CC30 (SB) OA30 (W/PU) OA16 (B/R) BC21 (R/Y) AF29 (W/B) Ignore OA30 / AF29 (see below) Connector Pin. --- From --- To BC21 (R/Y) --- ??? --- ABS actuator for T-TS ??? - Not required. We will be using the Z ECCS / IGN relays to simplify wiring. Pin # 2 from both relays goes to pin #16 on the skyline ECU. For the conversion, Pin #16 will need to be routed to F25 harness (OR). Pin #58 from the skyline ECU will be routed to F23 (W/B). This takes care of AF29 (#1,#5 ECCS relay, #1 IGN relay) from the Harness O. Pin #5 from IGN relay is usually provided for by OA30, but this will not be necessary because the Z main harness does everything the wiring through OA30 does. ECCS relay #3 from the skyline harness needs to be routed to F23 (W) (lowest one on the connector) IGN relay #3 from skyline harness needs to be routed to F23 (B) Wire from the ECCS relay pin #3 will need to be routed to F23 (W). Notes: Ugh. Not 100% on this section. Apart from the ECCS / IGN relay shit here, the rest seems straightforward. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Harness Q: CO28 (*12) CO25 (W) HB12 (L/B) AF32 (Y/R) AF11 (Y) AF01 (Y/G) AE03 (B) CS02 (L/R) CS04 (G/R) CS05 (LG/R) CS16 (L/G) CS17 (L/Y) AQ04 (Y/PU) CE02 (*12) HB60 (LG/R)? They both have identical plugs for the control unit so perhaps it is possible, but will have to research this further unless someone can provide the answer. Apart from AF39 and AF76, the other pins don't seem to be of any concern, except for maybe AGE6 to which I have no idea about. I'd have to look at a harness to see what this pin actually does, but seeing as it goes straight to ground once I have one this shouldn't be an issue. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Harness S: CS47 (PU) CS48 (B) Connector Pin. --- From --- To CS47 (PU) --- ECU Pin #56 --- E-TS Control Unit CS48 (B) --- ECU Pin #30 (Common sensor ground) --- E-TS Control Unit Notes: Neither of these will be required since the Z won't be using E-TS. For CS48, de-pin at the connector and strip back to where it joins Throttle Position Sensor / Engine Temp Sensor grounds for cleanest install. For CS47, simply de-pin at the ECU connector. This thread is gold. Have it closed, my post deleted and sent straight to the tech section! Good stuff mate.
