Is it possible to mix and match components.

For example, the auto guys aren't going to need the launch control, and the drag guys are going to want to have full throttle shift.

What options do we have here?

Hey guys, just saw this post. Yes I had one of these a while back. Works great and I loved it.

The traction control works by tapping into your ABS wheel speed sensors. Very handy as with the motec I had to fit motec speed sensors which was a PITA. It measures the difference between the wheels and hence calculates the difference in wheel speeds, i.e. how much they are slipping. You adjust how much slip you allow before the traction control kicks in. Hence the "slip control" knobs on the panel.

It controls traction by "feathering" the engine for you. It sequentially cuts the ignition to the cylinders, by default one at a time and sequentially. You can alter the pattern/number however you choose. It increasingly cuts your power until the amount of preset traction is maintained.

The effect is if you go into a corner and accelerate you will not loose traction if you over accelerate. It feels very smooth and quite hard to detect. Straight line is similar. NOTE if you go into a corner with velocities exceeding what the laws of physics dictate you can go around in then the traction control will in no way help you.

If you want a top class system then I absolutely recommend this. There is no way in which people can complain with this system as every single smallest detail in how it works can be customised. Down to soft cuts, hard cuts, slip levels, speeds, number of cylinders cut, the order and duration etc etc. All it takes is a bit of time and effort to get it perfectly suited to your driving. For me I found it perfect out of the box.

I happened to get my set when the supra forums in the states did a group buy. I think we got about 80 units or something. Installation I did by myself with no hassles.

    Hope this helps.

It also cuts the fuel I believe (I'm fairly sure that's what I read) and that's good cause that will save your cats.

Also, does it work with an auto? from what I was reading they only ever mentioned manuals, though they never say you can't fit it on an auto.

Thanks Zisluv nice write up and good to know an Aussie has tried and proven this system.

I personally am after the control unit, launch control and flat shift control for circuit racing dont really need the digital adjuster as have the laptop at the track anyway and one less thing cluttering up my already cluttered dash.

Can someone PM me a price for this setup with leadtime etc attached.

Remember all the Turbo kit GB is nearly finalised there was one thing I didnt like which is being rectified then it's a goer so save save save:biggrin:

    Pricing

Racelogic UK have an Australian dealer listed on their site, only one.
    They are located in Qld.
I called & enquired about pricing & their figures are a bit different to those mentioned.
For example, the PRO version, which has the launch control was quoted at $2700, the digital adjuster is another $650.
    Postage is around $25.
They estimate it would cost approx $650 to $700 to have them fit it in a Z.
They would be prepared to lower the pricing on multiple units.

    Wow, big difference.

Ive noticed on the web site that there price seems to have increased a lot though.

When I bought mine I got the full system except data logging. So slip control, launch control and full throttle shifting, though they didn't have a digital display at that point. From memory I paid around $1400aus.

There is no way I would tell anyone to pay $6-700 for installation. Just use the guide on ttnet, very very doable.

Sounds like if people want to get a decent discount then a multi club group buy might be in order?

traction control eh, that don't sound like fun at all.

Yeah but its adjustable for slip in increments like 5% slip 10% slip and 20% slip I think so it will allow the car to oversteer slightly but still help to control it. So not a total waste Mike

Plus I imagine you'd be able to turn it off completely. Else how are you supposed to do a burnout at the drags?

I'll probably be looking at getting one of these down the track. Probably not this year though, got too much other stuff to spend money on.

that pricing is rediculous, i don't think anyone would even consider it at those prices

that's more expensive than a turbo kit

we could consider inviting other clubs to join in the GB to get up the numbers? i think they will require 4 cylinder versions (180's and 200sx's etc), unless it's a supra club

PZP is working on a good price for us, it's great that PZP is always willing to come through and help out members :)

I've got one at home, but haven't had the chance to....

install it since getting the grey Z (it was originally intended for the black Z). Every review I've read raves about it.

I had tried to do a GB at the time but no one was interested. So I called the head-honchos of the WRX forum, the Supra forum, and the Skyline forum (I think) and they weren't interested either once they found out the cost.

Mine's got the TC, FLS, LC and DL, but no digital display. Anyone wants a close-up look to see what bang you get for your bucks can have a look when I get back.

I'm actually considering selling it as I don't really have the time to install it.

    I would be interested!

    If it's the MkII version.

I know this is a "OLD" thread but would there be any interest if a GB was to be organized?
I wouldn't mind one and i think there is a few others also :D

I'll say maybe. I would prefer to use the money at the moment to get my engine etc finished but if it comes up at the right price...

I'd be in 100%, but only if this happened in 6 months. I have to many other $$$ commitments elsewhere atm. Or if it happened sooner, I'd have to pay off slowly.
