[QLD] TEST N TUNE. 13.77 SECONDS

Had a great day/afternoon/evening/night/morning.

Spent the first half of the morning Installing 1mm Boot Jets. To give me that little bit extra Kick. WHICH THEY DID :thumbsup: Cheers K-Zed and Rich0 for showing me how to do that.

Such a simple task.

After dropping all the tools onto the splash guard at least once, We finally managed to have the jets installed. Not a hard job, just fiddly.

Rich0 and myself Cruized up to Pex's around about 2:45 or there abouts. Got lost a little, we were still in same street, just at the wrong end.

MY BAD.

BBQ Tasted Great, and Was good seeing such a huge turnout for a TEST N TUNE.

We convoyed our way up to Willowbank without any major problems and most of us lined up anxious to race down the 1/4 mile.

I was fortunate enough to run against Z's the whole night.

Ran the quickest time for the Z's at 13.77. Not quite a K-zed 1/4 time, but i did manage to destroy my transmission on the 3rd and final run. Not only did i manage that, but i completely jumped the lights :wacko: I thought i must have missed the amber, Turns out the light was still green from previous race.

Oh well,

WAS A GREAT NIGHT. Even if it does mean replacing the Transmission.

Awesome night :thumbsup:

What a top night, will definitely be back! Wasn't suprised to see Fate...Mafia....Mr. F-14, whatever you want to call him, run a 13.77 1/4 that car flies post-boost jets.

All the Z crew put on an awesome display, which was for many of them their first ever run at the strip. Great to hear stuff like DID YOU SEE MY BURNOUT?!?!?! from Pexzed.

On that note, a BIG thanks to Greg & Tammy for putting on the BBQ! [Also thanks for not decking me when I missed filming the best run! :embarrassed:)

Was awesome catching up with you all ie. R33k, Rathius, Darkst0rm, Fleet, Pex, Dink, Grenfel & co. - might have to take the N/A up for a run on a quiet nite

PS Fate blew a tranny & he liked it :LOL:

Yeah was a great night. The 1st run we all waited well over an hour, but was worth it in the end!

I was a little disapointed with my times have to look into why the auto keeps bouncing off the rev limiter before changing.

Pex seems to have the same problem but only in 1st.
Possible transmission belts need tightning?
I'll find out next week any case.

 

Well I'd get the points for consistency

I had a great time - shame I wasn't with the other Zeds on the first run - my competitor on the first run got 11.267 - but he fouled so I won!

My times were very consistent: 14.738 and 14.715.

Thanks to Greg and Tammy for the BBQ. It was good as always to meet another couple of people :thumbsup:

Maybe next time I'll remove all my tools, torch, spare parts, water, etc before I do the run! :wacko:

Looking forward to seeing pics and footage.

to transmissions... Scott Ph 3841 2197 near the big gun/rogues niteclub.

He is scrupulously honest and I'd recommend him very highly. Tell him I referred you ...

The run back from Willowbank was quite an eventful one!

Fleet and i went home via the city, then after racing some other cars that made an appearance at willowbank, the clutch decided to die!
we spent an hour on the side of the road at stones corner waiting for RACQ to tow his car away... r33k has pics!
we watched as the front bumper on the car bent as it was pulled up onto the tow truck then when it got back to his place, we had to push the car back into the garage! i think we're gonna recommend that he gets a house with a driveway that DOESNT have a lip before the garage next time!
other than that and getting egged while the zed was being taken up onto the truck, it was a good night!
all the zeds that raced looked amazing on the track, and congrats to fate for his time on there!

Sorry to hear you guys had such drama on the way back - we were expecting Sean's Z to come unstuck but she held together.

...that's keeping in mind the only willowbank compeititor WE could've raced home was on the back of a truck

I think it's time to sell my n/a...got a 13.77 & a 13.55 to beat ...speaking of which, I think it's time for the 1/4mile list to be updated.

PEX Story + Pics and Vid

PEX was a Track and Dragstrip virgin, so did not know what to expect, and the place was "PACKED"

Driving with a helmet on freaked me out (no peripheral vision).

Run No.1 of 3
Did a cool burnout, but left the trans in "L" for the run up the strip, so I got to 70 KM real fast and then the car went "fpfpfpfpfpfpfpfpf", until I nudged the trans into 2nd and the "D", lost some valuable time, but still thrased the XE V8 falcon next to me, ran a 14.51

Lined up against Sean [FATE].
Did another cool burnout
This time I REMEMBERED to put the trans into "D" :thumbsup::thumbsup:, and we were neck and neck upto 145 kmph, and then the rev limiter killed me again, coz the gear change to third was very lazy, and sean was able to pull away at the end.
Time was 13.97.

Did an OK burnout
Thought I would try the trans in HOLD mode to see if I could get those gear changes to occur slightly earlier, but indeed that idea did not work to my advantage. That run was a low 14.
Also it was a pity that Sean blew the start, coz it would have been nice to see the two zeds going up the straight together on the vid.

AND ONLY ONE 'RED' ZED LOL

Sean may have geabox issues, and I believe pete has done his clutch.

I still have a headache from the noise coming from some of those cars

First time i've seen the VID. :LOL:

Now i see why i stuffed up.

You'll notice the green light goes off then comes back on again.

That completely put me off. I swear i saw amber, thats why i took off like a madman.

If i don't say so myself, THAT WAS A LAUNCH AND A HALF :thumbsup: Shame i stuffed the gears the whole way down the track though.

Guess you'll see me running mid 12's when the new box goes in.

Can't wait.

Looks like i'll be missing the upcoming cruize.

Would have been great to see you there Mark.

Maybe we should make it a regular "between cruize" meet, and rotate the BBQ between members??

This way we might get there 4-5 times a year.

confirmed that clutch has a problem

most likely is that it melted to the pressure plate. I'm aiming to be ready for this saturday's sprints though.
