It depends on where they mount the intake temp probe. I remember at the SAU day there was a R33 with a highmount and the intake temp read 60 degrees compared to ambient temp of 25ish. It got 360rwkw when even the owner said that it'd be much lower but with the hing mount turbo his engine bay can get very hot, especially after a few power runs. When the intake temp reads significantly higher than ambient in can cause the computer to calculate higher power figures.
yeah the cool rory, not the loser RoryZ one lol good day......nialls zed was a beast, picked up very fast that is all Erik
This isn't good news. How much difference are we talking 20hp, 50hp?? Is this dyno printout any use or is it better used to start a BBQ. Is it anywhere near an accurate readout of power?
PLEASE READ! Ok i spoke to Glen today from AMMS to express our concern in relation to the high readouts, He explained thet the tyre pressures wont affect it at all, but the major difference in IT's and AT's will. He did offer to run the cars again for the owners who feel that their numbers read higher. I plan to run another dyno day in a month or 6 weeks time, probably 10 cars again, and Glen is prepared to run the cars for the unhappy owners then. I think this is quite fair. I would ask that you dont take the piss out of this though, So i think that only people who feel that their car ran significantly HIGHER than it should get a free run. I will start an EOI soon for the new day, I would like to fit this date in with Rich and Al as i feel that you two are the most effected. Comments?
Thanks for taking making that call Nyall. Let us know when you decide on a date as I would like to run my car again. Any time after in the next 4-8 weeks is fine by me. I would like to have a definite readout of my cars power as it a bit hard to brag with a botched dyno. While i'm a bit frustrated that the readouts were high I was happy to find out that I could run 12psi safely. So it wasn't a complete loss.
This explains it as i noted where they were putting the intake probe on the Zeds. They were resting it on the drivers side of the engine near the HICAS solenoids... As we all know our air intake is just behind the front bar out of the engine bay so i guess this is the reason why the results were so high. She's running sweet now, aswell as tune the AVCR, i also had to set the idle speed... running schweet! Now to turn down the fuel pressure... I'd be very happy to have another go!
