ZToy did very well for his first outing doing a 64 second lap before I headed home.

AZA was having a problem with his NX with the connector on the distributor. Did you get it going for the last run?

what times did you guys end up doing at the end of the day?

OMFG!@!   What an experience! I'm still having trouble trying to itterate what it was like. Everything you know about how your car handles completely changes when you 100kmh+ and running full slicks. First big and most eye opening part is the ridiculous amout of grip slicks have when they are warm. Your coming into corners, and all 4 wheels are sliding and coming out of corners foot flat to the floor and the back of the car is oversteering but its completely under controll. There is just so much grip. Its impossible to expalain the senation.

Second big thing I noticed was how inefficient stock brakes are. I was jamming them on hard into turn 1 and 6 and there was no way in hell they were going to lock up.

I got 2 runs in on the day. I had to pull out of the second half way through due to my LF tyre developing a major "egg". I was contemplating going out for the 3rd session on street tyres but wasnt game after running slicks. However with the egged tyre, 2nd lap of 2nd session I did a 63.33 lap. A second faster that my best in the 1st session.

Aza was having more fun than me. He had to push his car out of pit lane on his first run. After some cunning mechanic work from all of us we quickly pulled out his dizzy to find one of the wires had pulled off its pin in the connector. We quickly soldered it up and got him back out there. I think he got 2 runs in. Not sure of his times but he was enjoying himself.

We all copped a bit of sun, Mia got the worst. If you think the photo of her back looks bad the front is heaps redder. Cowboy hat and sunscreen next time I reckon.

An awesome day and will go down in my memories for years to come (unless I kill them with booze:p )

another fun filled day at the track

well after deciding to adjust tps and timing in the morning before heading out on the track the car started fine as i went to line up, but when trying to restart the car again it just didnt want to start and when it did it coughed and spluttered, had to push her out of the way and inspect found that moving the dizzy plug had a big effect on the motor running.
we got her going again and back to the pits for a better look and found that one of the wires broke of the pin in the back of the plug, seems undoing the dizzy bolts to adjust timing upset the plug and broke the wire,
after actually finding the wire Al came to the rescue and soldered it back on went to line up again this time i got out on the track but trying to get the car to rev past 4k she coughed and backfired to limped back to the pits again.
after inspecting the plug again the soldered pin wasnt coming thru far enough to contact properly we fixed that up and went for a spin in the carpark to test was fine but the timing wasnt right, it was set to 15btdc but the car had no go so dialed it back and the engine wanted to rev so ill have to check that out.
well after 2 failed runs finally got on the track for the third timed run and ill say i missed my semi slicks street tyres are interesting lol. and driving a front wheel drive car is so different out on the track will take me a few track days to get used to it, ended up with a 1:11.29 for my first full season which im pretty happy with seen the car is on stock suspension and crappy street tyres with some more practise and semi slicks and adjustable suspension ill be in the low 60's, was surprising on street tyres i could carry 110km/hr into turn one and 120 on the apex-exit, brakes will need some upgrade in in the future also they were ok on street tyres but semi slicks will give them a flogging.
im looking forward to the next one:D

this is what I mean dude :) >>>

    1. persisting to race a 300ZX NA when you could race a TT and break 60 seconds
    2. now racing of all things an NX! granted it has an SR20 in it (but still NON turbo) now THAT's a challenge :)
