[QLD] Morgan Park super sprints Round 2 April 27th

we had a top weekend in warwick!

huge thanks to HeavyTrevy and Ainslie who transported my slicks for me, you guys are Z legends :thumbup:

finished 4th in my class but was beaten by some serious machines.

1st the DRB cobra development race car - this is a stupidly fast machine!
2nd another quick DRB cobra
3rd Porsche GT3 ex-carrera cup race car
4th FleetMobile
5th GT40
6th GT40
etc etc

my official fastest time was 5 seconds slower than my elapsed time due to the 5 second timing penalty they sting you if you put a wheel off the track otherwise we might have picked up a 3rd place. oh well we will get 'em next time

 

Sounds like your having a blast out on the track mate. Thats a great result still, sounds like there's some insanely fast cars there!

I have a cunning plan, well maybe.

the idea is to do an NA diff swap (which is an R200 diff). apparently there are many diff ratio gears available for this diff that are unfortunately NOT available for the TT R230 diff

I will then install 4.4 diff ratio gears for insane acceleration a la stupidly fast cobra.

my only concern is the NA diff going bye bye under the strain of 400KW.

Sounds good in theory...

My concern would definitly be that the diff might not be able to cope with the power ur putting thru it, or may wear out alot faster. In this case u may have to have a backup dif built the same just incase this happens on the day

I'm basing this totally off anything uve ever told me btw pete... im just putting 2 and 2 together

 

just did a quick search for ya pete
it seems the 4.36 ratio for the r200 is from a R32 gts auto
and yep it should b plenty strong

I wouldn't be too concerned... GTR's use the same diff, so do S15's and there are plenty putting out that sort of power without busting diffs all the time.

The thing I would be concerned about is the NA halfshafts. There's a 12sec NA Z in the states that keeps busting them See if you can get a GTR or Q45 diff, they are a R200 but with the nice 6 bolt half shaft flanges. Not sure on the length of them though

I guess this starts to get tricky.

will the half shafts from the TT diff bolt on to the GTR diff? if not we may have to modify my current half shafts by cutting and shutting them onto the GTR shafts.

Carrera cup Porsche GT3 will have nothing if we can get this happening

Nice racing Pete, how did you go time wise against the TR7?

Clutch type LSD is the one for you although a Torsen type may also suit. Avoid the viscous LSD's, they burn out under racing conditions.

 

You would really want the 6 bolt flanges. Not sure of the diameter of the GTR shafts though. Maybe have a chat to JP about it, I believe he runs one.
