[QLD] Macman's Murwillumbah Cruise

Excellent day, 28 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, unbelievable for winter.
We had a better than expected turnout, with some new faces too.
Superb lunch at the Tumbulgum Hotel.
Downside was plenty of Sunday drivers on those narrow roads slowing up the progress, and how about that bus crawling up that narrow road with a 400 metre drop just 1 tyre width away!!!

Can't have a QLD cruise without a breakdown, so I am happy to report we are still holding consistent with Zedexer's car.
The nut that holds the selector rod onto the gearbox must have unscrewed and fell off sometime on the cruise.
So once the motor was stopped with the car in gear (but selector in park)and no way to put it in neutral (and being auto), the car wouldn't start.
We eventually got the linkage back over the bolt, and ummm....... held it on with bluetac . Chris is going to AMEC tomorrow. Thanks to all those who helped me out.
Never thought I'd need bluetac for something like that, but I always like to keep some laying around. Handy Stuff.

I believe the repair is still holding

yep, a triple perfect day .. even for queensland ...!!! .. and those damn sunday drivers .. pita ....!! .. took a lot of the faster fun out of a great cruise .. many thanks for the organisation, max .... good stuff ....!!!:zlove: :zlove: :zlove:

.. and a big thumbs up for unca greg ... all ready for a wiring bypass when he dived under chris' zed .. and a quick shout .. hold on, i have found the problem ... whoopee .. a quick rearrangement, a plug of blue tac .. and off homewards .. you guys are just something else .. simply amazing .. :biggrin:

green zed & blue tac

green zed, blue tac and a pex.. what a combo.
had a great drive with great folks and their cars, some nice speeds and good twisty bits gave my new break rotors and pads a real run in.

blue tac to replace a missing nut on the gear selecter rod did the job to get me home safe, and was still in place when i parked the car in the garage, so was able to gently select park, hopefully for a start-up in the morning and a trip to see pete at AMEC. thanks pex,, good thinking and good job.

all in all a great day...

I'm glad I lost all that weight now, so I can get under the cars better.
Great to hear the temporary repair is holding.
So, Fleet will have to grab his nuts on Monday and see if he has some the right size . hmmm.... that makes the mind boggle and the eyes water .

Glad you got back ok zedexer, bush mechanic methods rule! lol It was good to meet you all, although I could've probably kept driving a little while longer when we stopped for lunch but I'm greedy. It was the first time I've really given the 89T a balls out run since I took it out of storage a week ago and it handled it like a champ, so I'm really stoked with that. I made good time on the way home aswell!

My all time favourite moment during the cruise was going down that road inbetween those corn fields or whatever they were. What a fantastic bit of road that was, too bad there wasn't a cameraman on the side to get us all burning past. That would of been really awesome to see, not that we were going fast or anything of course!

Glad that it was an easy fix... it's always good when the sesame street characters get together. Everything seems to work out well in QLD .

That holdens train ticket was the Driver :cool2: or maybe it was the passenger I wasn't suprised that it actually kept up with the Na's well all but 1 of them *looks at AZA*

Was a great cruise and i'm glad that I could join you all in the ASTRA... just reminds me how much I miss my zed and what great people this forum boasts.

Well when I get home I'lll post a pic of the lookout that NONE of you came to see . Yeah real shame about that van, I think he was the only one that would not get over, all the others were very polite and let us pass. I think that run could go even better with a PSA that can handle the motion,(No offence Domi). So we appologise to those who wanted to go a bit quicker.

I recon that trip in reverse would be even more fun, turn that decent after the lookout into an awsome hill climb.

300zxt, you have a very nice Z31. Probably one of the best looking ones I've seen :zlove:

Thanks, it's in desperate need of a fresh lick of paint that's about it! It was a really good turn out with lots of nice Z's, black is definately the color of choice! I think almost half of the Z's there were black! Speaking of paint the cool thing too was that the very same factory metallic black paint used on my Z31 is the same as a couple of other Z32s there.

I agree doing that cruise in reverse would kickass too!

there was a good bit

where you and I were racing ahead before we encouned traffic I noticed a reasonable gap behind you. Also I though I held my own quite well at about 90% effort.

very good day it was. had $hit loads of fun, as always. and would like to thank AZA for picking me up from my house and dropping me off as well. AZA should have some useable video feed that i took.

yes was a good day of driving

even thou at places we had traffic that slowed us down, yeh max i couldnt be bothered to walk up to the lookout so bring on the pic, and pex i only took one pic i think lol i got busy talking and so on but i have some video footage i think boneZx was half crapping himself ill let his voice in the video footage say it all, ill get it onto my laptop soon and edit and upload and post tomorow nite hopefully

was good to catch up with everyone again also can;t wait for the next one

boneZx u up for it again or do i need to put in the 4 point harness first?? lol
