did some more work today. I had to pull the intake off so i could get to the drivers side turbo to fix a leak. the lower clamp on the output of the turbo was stripped so i fixed that. would of tested it to make sure but now i can't find my boost leak tester. its around here somewhere :bash: but while i had everything off, i decided to give it a polish cause it was getting gunk all over it. here are some pic of before, during and after. One of the runners on the intake manifold. lots of cream and the after effect.
are those the bigger smics (james007 size smics) that you can get or just the e-bay ones???? if they are the bigger ones or even the smaller ones are you going to duct them??...looks great BTW:zlove:
i think they are the ones off of ebay. so they are bigger. and i'll duct them when i have a front bar to put on.
did a little more this weekend. got the right rotors after RDA stuff up my order. so i put the brake system back one and gave it a quick bleed. i still need to bleed it again to get the pedal to where it should be. i also put the rear traction and camber arms on. so here are some pics. I didn't want to paint the rotors, as i have painted the calipers. so i just clear coat on them to help slow the rusting down on the parts that don't get used. Rear traction and camber arms. Rear brakes back on Front brakes back on and the little tool i made to spread the pads and get the pistons back into the calipers. I brought one from the shop but it was crap
Making your own tools FTW! How much longer till it drives Bones? Can't be too long, yours has been off the road longer than mine
shouldn't be too long after i get the brake problem sorted out and the exhaust. should be good to go for Easter next year. and what does FTW mean
got my exhaust today. its a N-power one off of ebay. it looks great and i will fit it on sunday most likely. still tossing up whether to fit the dumps or not. here are some pics of it
new dumps are on the car i was planing to leave the stock dumps on and just use the rest of the new exhaust. but as it turns out you can't use n-power pipes and stock dumps. it took seven hours and seven rums, but i managed to get the old dumps off and the new dumps on. the rear wheel in the passengers turbo is seized, probly from sitting for so long. but i got some advice off of eric, and hopefully when i start her tomorrow it will come good. and thank to eric for recommending LIQUI MOLLY spray. it is great stuff. and thanks to mike for sending me erics number. here are some pics. new dump pipe and old dump pipe had to buy and make some new tools the white and orange can is the stuff for rusted old bolts. top of the new dump pipe and some shots of the new dumps bolted on
Nice one Bonsey ,looking the goods there man. Thanks for the tip on the LIQUI MOLLY , might get some for later, sound like handy stuff to keep on hand. Cheers Patrick
some more pics and work couldn't get the exhaust to fit right today. (cheap crap) but i managed to get the caliper cleaned up and painted. caliper after i used a wire wheel on it caliper in the painting process this is why i clear coated the rotors before i put them on and a couple shots of the engine while i was bored
did some more work had a little bit of fun today. i got the wheels on and put it on the ground for the first time is 2 year. but the dash back in and standard steering wheel. bleed the brakes. and put the clear side indicators on, after a bit of filing still got to get a few things that i need. and then it will be off to eric's workshop for the final touches and a roadworthy. some pics of it with the wheels on.
Looking good ... How soon before the engine restart? You'll want to pull the fuel pump and ign relays before you crank it over for the first time to get some oil circulating before it starts up. All the oil galleries will be dry-as...
