People please check your fine print yes Shannons have owner salvage rights in an accident BUT not in the case of theft

You can usually negotiate with the accessors if the value is close to being written off. (Most of the people with stock up to date cars, would writhe off them car as they would gain few grand if them policy is insured to agreed value)!

When you talk to the assessor. You can accept the value for the repairs if that suites you. If you wiggle I'm sure that you can get some deal...
Your repair cost in second hand parts is bugger all..
Most of the repair cost would be the paint job and key matched barrel!

I know about a case that insurance company "NRMA" refused the claim because ignition barrel of the GTIR wans't original (30 year old car we talking about here).

Car has been stolen and they asked the owner to bring the key's to the police station. Which he did... It turned out that key wasn't original key!!!
Based on what they refused the claim!!!

So they went trough the manufacturers records to find the key number in order to refuse the claim...

Changing the barrel of donor car would have to be matched to the old barrel or your insurance claim can be voided in future!!!

Bit of topic but I'm furious about insurance companies.....

I didn't know Suncorp had shut down Just Cars...not surprising, they targeted a high risk and generally cash strapped market, also Suncorp are restructuring.

For the zed, AAMI will probably offer a better price unless your chasing above market value. Shannon's will actually listen to your reasoning without stinging you, also further discounts for CAMS accreditation. I use shannons, but only for my extreme low use / stored vehicles and they give me 1%. (ie 50,000 insured value is $500 a year)

Yeh as of feb 1st this year just cars is no more. I got a letter stating my current policy is still valid until my renewal which is in july, at whichtime ill either get a offer from either aami or shannons for a continuation of my policy or ill have to find a new insurance company. Either way i currently have $13000 agreed value on my full comp dd z, which i dont want to lose under any circumstances so hopefully one of them will keep that agreed value intact otherwise ill have to find one that will give me an agreed value im wanting for my pride and joy. Problem js shannons wouldnt touch me years ago stating my mods to my car are personal tastes or some bs so hopefully that will change.
