lol, yeah i put a big shiny nismo sticker on the front window helped with downforce, redlected the sun of my car and gained extra 5kw's lol =)

Don't be modest. The NISMO sticker in conjunction with the Stillen oil cap would give at least 75HP at 12PSI. LOL :3
I'm gettin a UDP put on with my 200k service :) woot!
Apparently it gives a lot more low-end power, and is the best $4$ mod for an NA :p

I would go for maintenance first.

    100k service
plenum pull- replace fuel lines, coolant lines (bypass tb's), get injectors cleaned and bench tested
remove aiv's and prvr if you want
make sure you have no vac leaks (replace vac lines if they are cracked and brittle)
new spark plugs and do a compression test on the motor (so you know if the engine is healthy)
    fresh engine/gearbox and diff fluids
make sure you have no error codes and clean up/replace electrical connectors in engine bay
    Series 2 PTU
Replace air filters (I went for an Apexi pod filter)

I did mostly maintenance stuff on mine for the last 2 years and I noticed gains just from the maintenance work.

Then I would do brakes (pads, rotors and fluid), Suspension (see if any components are worn out and replace them, shocks, springs and front strut brace... or if your standard shocks and springs are in good condition then keep them and fit sway bars) and good Tyres.

Then after that you can start doing the power mods that the other have listed in the other posts.

hey there is something funny going on here it def said estimated b4 =)

i went 2 300zxclub.com and found heaps of people and info about modifying n/a 300zx they all say it costs lots of money and some have a fair decent amount of power some have gained 200hp

where as in the post you sent me i think? siad approximatley 100hp i guess it pays 2 research well and i will keep researching till i find best results and true facts if that makes sence lol =)

which was the consensus here also, if you want to spend tens of thousands of dollars, that much of a gain is POSSIBLE. However, the street-legality will be heavily called into question. The thing I posted was a couple grand I think, from memory (3-4 or something, don't quote me on that)

excellent very helpful had a vac and compression test at adelaide 'z' cars last service no leaks nothing mechanically a1 which was good 2 here.

then i blew my top mount when it was 45 degrees here in adelaide bout month ago

it was like a seen from alien green coolant and crap spraying everywhere

costs 380 to fix top tank or 440 for a brand new radiator and 900is for a alluminium radiator

yeah i understand that i want mine to still be street legal thats why i dont want nos. would be nice if u could have it and be street legal.

im not going to do anything straight away need to save some coin i just think it would be nice to see some high powered n/a getting around 2. =)

Nos isn't the only non-street legal thing there I don't think (again, don't quote me on that )

200 hp gain on an NA? Pfft yeah right, not with out a LOT of work. I don't think you quite understand us when we say a LOT. The most powerful NA in Australia that i'm aware of is a stripped out one used as a dirt track racer, with around 170 kw. Which is around bog stock TT territory.
So you want nitrous (NOS to fanboys ) now? I thought you weren't chasing big power gains, otherwise you'd have gotten a TT, as you said?
Laws differ from state to state but most things you do to your NA will be illegal, including exhaust, extractors (unless you modify to allow the EGR system to still funtion), suspension etc.

What i'm trying to explain is that NA mods usually come at a cost to driveability. Don't expect to go spend 50 grand changing cams, porting, free flowing exhaust, ITB's, no air con, no power steering, weight reduction, ECU remap, nitrous, lightweight crank pulley, tailshaft etc etc etc and expect to be able to drive to the corner store easily.

well if you dont believe me go check out the other forum.

    http://300zxclub.com/showthread.php?t=37134

i never have once said on here in any posts that i want nitrous or that i want big power gains! so i dont know where you got that from!

i want help modifying / improving mine.

its just with all the talk of people not modifying them makes me want to do it i know i could get pretty decent horsepower but it will come at a price, everything does but im up for the challenge if i was to put some decent money into it.

there is alot more out there for n/a in my own opinion than some people think or know of you just have to find it and make decisions for yourself when it comes to the crunch.

i just said i found some other people on another forum who have talked about modifying n/a and some have gained/ got 200hp on a n/a.

and i dont have 50grand its only expensive if you dont know the right people or do your home work.

i know its expensive 2 modify n/a, i understand that cos thats what majority of people have said here, hens the homework and questions im asking on here.

they wouldnt have GAINED 200hp, they may have 200rw HP though..

the things are mate, all of your questions have been answered a number of times in both of the threads you have made. We have a number of N/A owners who (like yourself) are very happy with their cars. But ask any of them, and they'll tell you that a TT is still quicker and if you wanted quite a quick car, then you'd be better off with a TT. Speak to LOWZX, JEDI-77, Sandeep, MikeZ32, AZA or Chrispy - all of these guys have spent enough time and money on thier N/A's to tell you exactly what you will gain from doing the mods you decide on.

Unless you have a lot of money, your zed will still be the slowest of the Z32s, it will still be heavy and it will still be nearly 20 years old. I'm not saying this to dishearten you in the least - but you DO need to realise this before you spend a lot of money on your car.

    Cheers

    fair enough.

just said they gained 200hp i didnt ask them if it was hp or rw hp.

i know my questions have been answered in both threads and i know a tt is still quicker.

it would just be nice to see some quick n/a going round it would be different/ unique considering no one really does them up weather it be minimal to massive gains, from what i have gathered here.

my zed is 16 years old this year!

i know its nearly 20 years old but so are lots of 300zx's and other cars out there and everyone here still spends lots of money on them.

im not going to spend heaps on my car and it wont be straight away either i just dont see whats the difference between me spending money on mine as its a non turbo and others spending money on theres (turbo) cos they are all pretty much all old cars tho when it comes down to it. and i guess personal prefference aswell.

if i wanted a tt i would have bought one - i will do one day tho.

    i want to get a z31 aswell!

thanks for all the comments and advice it has been very helpful and broadened my knowledge if that makes sense!

hope you all have good luck with your cars weather your modifying a turbo or non turbo auto or manual at the end of the day its what the individual wants to do and 300zx's are great cars all round!!!!! modified and non modified.

thanks and kind regards to all

    chris. =)

I'm not even going to look at that forum. THEY HAVEN'T GAINED 200HP for gots sake! So what they have 350 hp now or something?

Why can't you get it through your thick head, i keep trying to tell you and so does everyone else. Do you think i'm speaking out my arse? LOTS of people modify NA's, who ever said it was never done? I've spent thousands, but it's basically pissing away money which makes the car less driveable on a day to day basis. You said you wished 'nos' was legal i think, can't be stuffed checking, which would imply you'd have it on your NA if you could.

om.....no offense but your zed, NA+auto+4seats+ t-top, in fact, is the slowest z32....
i m afraid after you have done all mods, e.g udp, pod, header, exhaust, etc, you dont feel the difference.....

my 2c advice is.....dont think about power, put all the money on making her (more) beautiful. that's what i did :)

other option is weight reduction. firstly remove the spare wheel and the weight in the hatch. then light weight 16" wheels, one piece alloy tailshaft, light aftermarket seat, dont put full tank fuel:D, etc

"making her beautifu"l and "16' wheels" should never be in the same sentence
