Hi lads, my power steering is shagged. I dont know anything about cars so i am prepared for the worst. What i was wandering is what sort of money would i be looking at to get it fixed as a worst case scenario.
Any 1 have any sort of ideas??

Its easeir to turn to the left thant ther right. but the only sympton i cant really tell is that is probably heavier steering this thing with power sterring than it is driving a car with out. When i turn it makes a sort of straining noise, like what ever makes it turn is straining or slipping.

it depends what is wrong...have a look at it and see if the power steering belt is on? depending on what is wrong with it etc it may be cheaper to purchase a second hand one from someone that has it for sale than the repair costs of your one. but id be looking into what is wrong first, ie belt etc

hey mate how ya going? not good by the sounds of it.

okay so you'v checked the fuild level? and its full, okay so you have no idea/clue about cars, thats not good when you own a nissan, you better start learning as you need to start doing stuff to you car, as you car will eventually have problems with it, as their old cars. but good cars when their all in order. hmm if you want to pay a mechanic to fix stuff will get the job done but at a price, their is a company thats based in the cooperoo next to city, they are called AMEC they fix 300zx's and other veichels but specialize in nissan 300zx's hmm not sure how much they charge as iv never had any work done their my self, as iv had work done by a company recomended by a zedder and had my car ****** up, so i took it home and got the parts i needed and fixed it my self, and since that day i do everything my self. easyer and i know how to fix it if i stuff something up.

their is a member called (nick name: Fleet ) he is like a head mechanic at the store, and he has a zx that has like 500hp at rear wheels or something close to that range of power.

if you were to fix it ur self you would be best to take to a mechanice AMEC to get them to check it see what problem is, if its blocked somewhere, or belt broken or needs to be changed, go out to nissan(local) or even call them, see how much a genuine one is, and then goto wreckers and see how much they charging for second hand one, and decide from their, as amec for quote how much to fix including labour, if the quote is similar price to the genuine product get them to do it, as they are mechs an can doo job heaps faster and nice and clean, and you dont have to get dirty.

mate if you have any problems in contacting amec i can give you address and their peter and michael, phone number: 07) 3324 2400 , 0400 104 494

if you have any futher questions you can pm me and ill be happy to answer anything that i know. Kind Reguards Shaun
