hey guys, just got the zed on the road yesterday and as i was driving home from a mini cruise the steering started making a weird sound(like creaking, grinding sorta noise) whenever i was turning.. then went out this morning to check the power steering fluid to see the level and it was a little low so i topped it up.. then i checked under the car and saw it was leaking :wacko: drop by drop comming down from under the car... and the level of the power steering fluid had dropped too.. so guys what do u suggest i do.. am i able to drive the car to a mechanic or something is there a chance of damaging it thanks alex :wacko:
Can you establish where leak is from? It's not easy to do without putting Zed on hoist and degreasing. Should be ok to drive to a local w/shop. Whatever damage is done is unlikely to be made worse.
Top it up with ATF and have a good look around the reservior. The big hose out the bottom feeds the P/S pump,check the clamps, mine were loose, check clamps on other hoses, have somebody (with the engine running ) move the steering wheel ,see if there are any leaks from the hoses that run down to and along the rack, check for leaks from both boots ( at either end of the rack). When you locate the leak,you'l have to decide who to fix it. Other wise top it up and take it to a mechanic.
guys i think i found where its leaking from!!!! PICS INSIDE anyone here able to fix it for me? will pay of cource... any suggestions? thanks alex
If leaking from low pressure hose> Mark (Zed4life) has an NA hose in stock. Pretty easy to change on an NA.
Same prob. here. I first thought it was engine-oil leaking Mine has exactly the same symtom as your zed and I have just looked at the area as indicated in your photos. Yes, leaking from the same hose. The level of PS fluid is currently below the cold-mark. Can I mix new fluid with the current one or will it be better to flush and fill it with new one. Hey, we may go to see Mark together this weekend. What sort of ATF or PSF would you recommend
I'm sure ScottZ would be happy to sell this NA hose...just let him know prior and he'll tell you what he paid for it. You can pay be direct on the day and I'll relay it to him. PS: It is brand new unused (they mistakenly sent the NA hose- no good for a TT)
