I am in the process of doing my 100k service and have discovered a worse than expected power steering leak. I knew there was a bit of a leak and had suspected the hose found in a tech article by Wykked so had the stuff to replace that one (it's a return line that you can cut the crimp on and replace with power steering hose and clamps). Now with all the stuff out of the way it looks as though it is maybe worse than expected.

Could the amount of oil on the pump and whatever be from the busted hose or is it more likely the pump is leaking also?

The steering felt fine and and the loss of fluid was slow, maybe a bit of fluid 12 months ago and again 6 months ago. Is the only way to ensure a fix now to replace all the hoses (even though they're probably not all stuffed) and rebuild the pump? Hard to work out another way to diagnose with it all caked on there like that. Pretty sorry sight.

If more detailed pics of a certain area would help I can get whatever is needed. Thanks

    degrease, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Hard to tell with all of that gunk there, but if you are only topping up your ressy every 6 months, then its not a drastic leak, possibly only the low pressure J-hose from the ressy to the pump. Easy to address once youve sorted out your 100K service leaks.

+2, once you have it all cleaned up you'll have a much better chance of seeing where that fluid is oozing from. It does look a bit "wetter" around that high pressure hose though.

No way you'd last 6 months on a Hi Pressure hose leak.

I posted a video once on a leak from mine on the last Z

Yeh we're talking at least six months here too probably longer. I had a high pressure leak years ago and it was drinking fluid every couple of days for two weeks till i could fix it.

In any case I have decided the only safe course of action is to pull the pump and recondition and replace all suspect hoses. Too much risk putting it back together and replacing only some hoses.

Apparently it is common for the alternator to die after being leaked on and whilst it isn't too bad I've decided to take that in for a once over too. Pulled both accessories tonight and will take them in Monday. Shame to have to have the car out of service and delay putting her back together but better some annoyance now than big cost in the future.
