Well, the car's nearly running again after being apart for around 5 months. Done alot of work to it and still some more to do, but for now I just want to hear it running again. I've pretty much got everything sorted (I hope) except for 2 issues. One is these couple of plugs behind the balance tube. I've numbered the connectors as follows: 1 and 2 both come from the same place on the harness, which is right over on the passenger side. I believe this part of the harness also splits into coil pack plugs for the 2 rear most passenger side coils. Now I realise the 3 pin one is for the pass side o2 sensor, which I no longer need as i'm not running them so we can dis-regard plug 2. 3 - Comes from the middle of the loom that runs down the middle of the plenum and connects to injectors etc etc. 4 - Comes from the pass side cam solonoid jobby. So basically my question is does Plug 4, the cam solonoid or whatever it's called, go to plug 1 or 3? Next up is this vacuum line. I can't figure out where it goes. There is a chance it was just blocked off and stuffed down somewhere as I recall seeing something along those lines before pulling everything apart but just want to be sure. It connects to a hard line in the middle as you can see. The left red silicon line goes to the blow off/recirc. The right blue line connects to the intake pipe. I've tried to follow the hard pipe along and the best I can make out is that it goes to the charcoal cannister but i'm not 100% on this. What do you guys think? Thanks Ben
For the vacuum lines - Red goes to the BOV from the balance bar, Blue goes to the Wastegate or Boost controller, the black one is for the carbon cannister - so either blocked off if you have removed it, or to a port about half way along the plenum.
Always worth checking the wiring colours at the back of any plug. Look at ECCS Wiring diagram in tech section. All the wiring colours are shown. If plug 4 is coming from LH VTC solenoid, then its matching plug on harness should have 2 wires - Green with Black stripe, and Black with Red stripe.
That looks very much like the carbon canister hose. If you have removed all the under plenum piping you will need to replace it with a longer one going all the way around to the back of the motor.
Ahh, well yeah i've just removed all the piping under there, so that would probably explain why I can't find where it goes. Is anywhere on the plenum ok?
You should have a spare metal hose nipple thing at the back of the engine on that side somewhere, it needs to attach to that. You will need a longer bit of hose too.
Would it go to one of the pipes on the balance bar by any chance? The one that comes from the middle junction on the bar and finishes on top of the idle adjuster? I can't find what goes on there so this would explain it.
Ok folks well thanks to your help i've got solutions for all these questions, but i've raised another one in the process. Plug 3 in my picture i've determined goes to the det sensor. Can someone point me in the right direction to find it? Does it plug to the sensor directly or does a lead and plug come off it? Could it have fallen down into the Valley? I just don't remember unplugging it that's all. Regardless, does a microtech ECU even use it? Thanks again Ben
The det sensor has a long lead coming off it , it is roughly in the centre rear of the motor. With plenum off its easy to spot
Well she's running which is a relief let me tell you. I didn't have any luck finding the det sensor lead. I might have to pull the plenum again soon. I'll wait to find out if the microtech even uses it first though. Thanks again everyone for your assistance. Ben
