I was driving back from Lismore with the climate control on 23 degrees, auto and low. The drive was smooth no problems temp gauge was normal. When i got home i heard a hiss sound which sounded to me like something dripping on the exhaust manifold (drip - hiss), i dropped my stuff indoors went back out to the car and couldn't hear anymore noise. I opened the bonnet and checked around but couldn't see any sign of leak. I ahve monitored the car all week and the noise has not come back nor can i see any sign of leaks, all levels of fluid are as they were. Anybody got any ideas as to what might have happened. Appreciate any responses. cheers, Ben.
2nd'd After 15mins CC reverts to FRESH air and on a long trip this causes excessive dehumidifying. Got to keep on resetting to RECIRC.
Must dis-agree. the condensation drain is too far away and low to cause those symptoms. If that was right we would all be doing it. I know mine leave's puddles everywhere with no hissing etc. In the pic it's the black elbow coming out of the fire -wall just above the compliance plate ( wish I could use photoshop or some thing)way too far to drip on manifolds etc. Where-as the LHS turbo water line .....................
It's possible we all do have it. I wouldn't notice since the turbo timer has my car running after I leave so I wouldn't hear it over the engine. And if I'm looking at the right pipe, couldn't that drip down onto the exhaust pipes? That would be hot enough to cause the water to hiss.
answer I have an NA and my car does it too when the A/C is on. After some investigation, what seems to be happening is that the A/C lines leading into the firewall get very cold and slightly frost over. This frost then melts and drips onto my headers. Also, the water from the drain plug also seems to drip slightly onto my headers and this causes the same hissing noise. Cheers
