Not true in speciality mild custom cars as most Z32 are it helps. Now you're not going to get 100% of the monies put in it but dependent on the purchase price of the car the mods can help.

Plus the potential Beiger of the car already knows what goes into building the particular car that they are looking at. So if a car is a detail as the car he's selling I would know as a Z buyer that his car is worth it or not! If you were to build it yourself it will cost you thousands of dollars more so purchasing his car in actuality is a bargain. Also he is looking for a buyer who has the monies to buy it not just internet critics without any intentions on buying anyway.

As a former used car dealer before I jumped into general contracting, I can tell you first hand that a nice set of wheels, tint, spoiler or sound system can sell a car for more than it's Equal counter parts for thousands more. You'll be surprised!!!

Ok If you were a used car dealer before you would know that you would offer lousy 2k to the poor guy that poured all his $$$ in to the car, if he would rock up at your garage trying to sell you his ride, highest you would go would be around 5k, and if bloke needed money that bad he would let it go...
You would then put it on to the shop floor at 18k price tag and offer HUGE "3 mth rego" and UNREAL "3 mth warranty" with it.
No offence but this is just what used car dealers are doing....

However money poured in to the car is dead money for average Joe, unless Joe has customers that would pay for it.
As well it helps if Joe don't pay Aussie retail prices on the components used...
Which again that is not the case with this guy.

Have to come back to "Aussie retail prices on the components used" which people like to list when advertising a "Used cars".
Sorry but I have to say there are no space for "retail prices in used cars" as they are "used already".
Coincidentally the value of "used components" is significantly lower then "New" or advertised value.

For me his price tag can only be justified if he has http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334537 package below the hood.

Don't get me wrong I wish that he could get what he's asking for but
thread subject is: "Please help me value my car" and I'm just blunt to give some reality in to the dreamworld :)

There's a very clean NA for sale in country NSW at the moment -the dealer traded it for $12k and has it for sale for $16k.

There's anther car with asking price $18k that appears to have just traded on the forum.

Rough cars get rough money. It seems there are also genuine buyers around who are prepared to pay for good cars.

Spot on, couldn't agree more Rob. Especially when it comes to sports cars, people won't pay good money for dirty, damaged, worn or neglected examples.
Even some of the cheap ones I see I think, how do you expect to sell it with rubbish & car parts on the floor... The worn out ones are correctly priced at next to nothing.
With this car, it doesn't take long to add up some quick figures to conclude it'd owe him over $20k & therefore is well priced in the high teens.
Loads of people have got loads of money, at under $20k for a hot looking sports car that needs no money spent on it, it's a great buy.
All those who thought George wouldn't get high teens for his - just missed out on a brilliant Z!

There is one 4 seater Grey TT Z in Darwin.
1997 model going for absolute bargain 2.5k
    Low mileage 109k clicks
Few dents/scratches needs new water pump, front headlight and brake booster.
    - Rear wing should be removed :)

For some who don't mind getting them hands dirty, this could potentially be cheap fix and nice sports car for less then nothing.

I wouldn't mention this here at all... But this car is 97 model !!!

For some with money to spend on finished product, there is few to choose from on this forum alone.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    1997 my arse!
Either the seller was sucked in to believing it was a '97 and is innocently continuing the untruth - or he is deliberately falsifying.
    1) Hydraulic HICAS not electric.
    2) Series 1 steering wheel.
    3) Original style tweed trim and seats.
    4) Boost gauge in speedo - Series 3 had no boost gauge, series 4 had white face dials.

Anybody with an interest in this should get the VIN from the firewall and check it first before "buying this '97 ..."

Also, what this probably 1989/90 car is worth has no relevance to graysonvarios question.

The problem with some people saying there car is such and such a date confuse the import date with the plate date. And as RedZed said he is either falsifying the date in order to sell to a total noob or has no clue .

:D on the trade in technique Of dealers!!! That's most new car dealers but most replicable specialty lots give a fairer price for your trade.

Jeez with some of these prices banded about I'm almost tempted to fling mine on for $15k and see if I can get close!:rofl:

You should have taken the 18K and run away. I only got $15500 for mine 4 years ago and had arguably had even more work done on it than yours
