It is a Lotus .... 2.2 litre Vauxhall turbo .. some had 3-litre V6 twin turbo ... could be an Eclat I think, but memory fails me ....

I have ~25 minutes of in-car, with some interesting stuff of WYKKED, BATXTC and the number 79 ZX TT - lines are instructive and also braking points ... will have this clipped down for NDSOC meeting on Wednesday night and will see if we can project it at some stage during the evening ....

I was thinking it looks somewhat like a Lotus Excel, seems too big for an Eclat.

Lotus Esprit, 4 cylinder turbo. He was a really nice guy too. Spoke to Him while we where waiting for that stupid blue MG to get towed off AGAIN. Hasnt had any gearbox problems YET.

Its actually NOT (I dont think) a Vauxhall or any other modded engine. The Lotus 4 cylinder was a Lotus designed engine if i remember right ( or that may have been the V8 in the later one).

Yeah I'll be going next year. This time with guns blazing. Seats , stearing wheel , bigger engine. Plus more to come with suspention. And most of all bigger brakes. My engine is coming out soon, to make another engine loom and get rid of all the wires in the engine bay. More to come me thinks.

I feel pretty badly done by to have been abused by someone who seems to be an active representative of this forum. I think the day was terrific and had a great feeling of club involvement. To be publicly called a mongrel and a hopeless driver is not at all what I expected.
If I made a mistake in not knowing that you would have preferred me to allow you to pass me, then I apologise for that. Throughout the day, as on many other occasions when driving in a field of mixed performance cars, I try and take care to use my mirrors and when I see cars obviously faster, coming up on me, I make a great deal of effort to get out of their way. In looking at our times, yes, you did do two laps with faster times than me. We were fairly similar with times and you may probably have made some faster times had you gone by me. We did speak after the event and I did say to you that because of those two laps of quite close competition, the experience was a reasonable benefit for both of us in terms of skills growth.
By way of clarification, some of what was mentioned about my car needs to be corrected as well. The car has stock turbos. Yes the brakes are after market and at the moment we are testing different pad compounds. The driving experience and data taken from yesterday have shown that temperatures were not being generated to where these pads were working as they should, resulting in increased braking distances.
Also, because the weather looked as if it would be a wet day, the car was setup for wet conditions where cambers were at a conservative setting so dry performance had already been compromised.
Also, the car did produce some uncharacteristic behaviour in braking, corner entry and mid-corner, making for an unsettled and challenging experience. Analysis and inspection today revealed a minor fault in a front suspension component was producing errant toe variations. That explained some directional nervousness in straight line braking. We also had a rear suspension component fault that explained the unsettled nature of the mid corner problems. This did not make the car undrivable but it made for a heavier work load than usual. I don't want to see in any reply that if I knew the car was not well, I should have let you pass. As I said, our times were close and this usually produces competition, not charity.
In your eyes, Tektrader, I'm sure, this in no way excuses me for not allowing you to pass me but it was very unfair for you to label me as a hopeless driver when you had no idea how difficult it was coping with a variety of issues that one occasionally deals with when a car is in development. I don't think anyone can go to the track, meeting after meeting and drive a perfect car and have no issues. Apart from having the chance to go and have a squirt at a sprint meeting, the cars, for most of us, are in a state of constant development and it would be unfair to suggest that if my car was in such a state that I should have just kept out of your and everybody else?s way. The fact that our times were relatively close even though I had my hands full with some problems meant that I was there to drive as fast as I could. I have been in your position many times myself and if it was your priority to obtain a clear track ahead of you for the sole purpose of improving lap time, I've just eased up for just a few seconds and dropped back a couple of hundred metres. The average speed for a 2min lap at P.I. is about 130kph. At 130kph you cover about 36 metre per second. If you dropped back two hundred metres, that?s more than five seconds difference between us. Then you could have gone for your big lap and not felt the need to abuse and ridicule me in such an unfair way.
In finishing, I apologise for not interpreting our situation on the track the way you wanted things to go. However, I don't think it was at all club like behaviour to say what you did to another member and in such a public way. It is certainly not in the spirit of what these days are supposed to be and I am disappointed in how I've been treated.

I am sorry you feel that way. Mongrel was a bit harsh and I apologise. If you have stock turbo's it explains why I couldnt get past you on the straight.

I have looked at the video a number of times and there are some extremely bizzare racing lines and braking patterns that defy belief. Seeing the hugely better braking system on your car than my stock brakes. How could I possibily outbrake you at any point would be a bone of contention. Yet it happened. Solution for brakes not getting to TEMP is to brake later and HARDER. NOT Earlier and softer.

This was supposed to be a fun day and it was, BUT we are all into self improvement as a sense of accomplishment. To have my last session essentially wrecked by someone who was consistantly outbraked and outhandled and unable to be passed on the straight due to almost identical power levels really got up my nose.

YOU SHOULD HAVE MOVED THE HELL OUT THE WAY as soon as it became apparent you are holding anyone up.. It isnt a race but it sure as hell seemed to look like you thought it was.

If you doubt my claims. You are welcome to look at the video at the NDSOC meeting on Wednesday night and see if you can draw a different conclusion than I.

BTW I was not the only one who thought the same. I had 2 other comments from others to me later about the same thing. That you held them up lap after lap. Maybe a bit more consideration next time on your part will fix the problem.

If you had issues with the car. You certainly dont want to cope with them with a guy constantly up your butt pushing you along. Solution is to move over.

Lastly, our time's where close in the final spread sheet because YOU wrecked my last session. I had consistantly dropped times in almost every lap since the start. My fastest lap was 3 sec's faster than yours. Any hope of improving that was essentially screwed up by guess who. Thats the only reason our times looked similar. I had to slow down for you.

I was there to improve my personal times. NOT RACE DOOR TO DOOR with you. All I learned from being held up by you was to make sure I always GO OUT LAST and leave a HUGE buffer to the next car so this doesnt happen again.

Maybe we both learned something here. I suggest we should move on.

What a corker of a weekend.

I have just made it home and the first think I check is aus300zx.com
I was pretty happy with the E-Vade. I know I had full intentions of winding it out to full boost, but it just scares the shit out of me. It needs a stabiliser I know now, but had a great time regardless of the times. I think Chris enjoyed his time in the hot seat, and there was no need for orbital sanding his nuts.
Actually it was nice to see what I designed and built, actually drive by with that lovely sound. any one who says a Vg30DE is not a nice sound is a mug.
So glad that we all ha d not instances, and all drove our toys on to trailers, or drove them home.
All I would like to say is; "who is doing it next year"
    And thanks Peter and Jen.
