VIC Phillip Island Classic, Sat March 14th

For anybody interested in motor racing as it used to be before business and profits and franchises and category managers took over, trip on down to Phillip Island this weekend for the Phillip Island Classic, one of the biggest historic motor racing events in the southern hemisphere.

As well as having relatively non stop action on track, this event is a sort of festival of car clubs, with just about every brand of car represented at club displays down the spectator side of the main straight. NDSOC have been invited again, and RedZed2 will be there representing the Z32. If we have the same spot again, we will be on the fence down towards the corner leading on to the main straight. Look for the red and blue Nissan/NDSOC canopy.

There are well over 500 entrants participating in the on track events, covering everything from pre-war specials though to to Formula 5000 from the 70's and the Group C and Group A Tourers up to the early 90's.

The pits are worth spending time in, you can get close to some magnificent old and not-so-old machinery, and quite often there are autograph opportunities.

Entrance is $20 for Saturday and $30 for Sunday - however I will be there Saturday only - got somewhere else to go on Sunday, GOR!!!!!

Was planning to go to this on saturday as well (sunday is GOR after all...) But I have some out of towners coming to stay over the weekend and I doubt they'd want to spend the whole weekend driving around...

I am very tempted, I was planning on doing a quick pre-GOR/Warwick plenum pull on saturday but maybe that can wait til next weekend...

I will let you know as soon as I make up my mind.
