Hi Mick Are you starting a RZM fan club or something. As most of your photo's seem to only have one Zed in them. Some nice shots there mate. How did you manage the first one, were you up in a chopper or something. I'm a bit worried for Mikey in one photo, it appears he's being passed by a station wagon.:LOL::LOL: What sort of times were the guys doing? Hope you all had a good day, the weather looks as if it was warm & sunny. Cheers Kerry
Pete wanted some shots with the sea in the background I took about 150 all up but I'm to lazy to photoshop and upload them
looks like you guys had fun.... spewing I couldnt make it.. but there's always next time I guess... did anyone else get there car on the track or only pete? Cheers
Great shots, Mick. I've decided my camera just doesn't make it Anyway, here's a few Unfortunately the last one is the only one within the camera's capabilities. Was a great day, though, a little (OK, a lot of) sunburn, heaps of beaut cars... GT40, BMW 3.0CSL (yes, the lightweight racer with the aluminium body and all the fins and wings) Ferrari 550 (which Jack was looking at when I took his pic), Clubmen by the dozens, plenty of Nissan/Datsuns, Corvettes, a Bolwell Mk7. Oh, and a Z32. And a nice cruise there and back again.
WYKKED it is! Most obvious difference is that Pete has chromed multispoke wheels, and RZM has polished stock wheels. RZM has vented bonnet, otherwise body colour and markings very similar. Like the movie "Twins"
A couple of other external differences ...>> RZM 2 seater, wykked 2+2. wykked has different rear spoiler. wykked has aero mirrors. wykked's veilside exhaust is fairly prominent. They're not quite as different as Danny and Arnie.....
More Pics The start / finish line from the carpark The zeds all lined up MickJ's monster wheels Wykked at work on the track Some other misc pics from the day
I guess it falls to me, then The other major difference between the external appearance of the two cars, is that Peter's was washed and polished, and Mikeys', well...
How much fun was that???......>> Bummed I missed the cruise down with all the guys and gals, but when you compete you have to get up early to get all the scrutineering out of the way. It was great to see so many people enjoying the sunny weather and it was great to catch up with some new members as well as the usual crew. Mick, I have to say the pictures are excelent, I can't wait to see what Mikey's contibutions look like once he gets his film developed. Yours are good too Col, especially the start/finish one , and once Jack has sent me the little videos he took I'll get them up on the site so people can see them. It has been more then 4 years since I've driven at speed around the Island circuit and back then my quickest time was only a 2.13. I really didn't expect too much, but my first session had me running consistant 2.11s so that relaxed me a little. I really am going to have to buy same race tyres though, as i had a quick look through the pits, and I'm pretty sure I had the only car there that wasn't wearing R comps of one make or another. The car is very different since the last time I drove the Island, with top speed down the straight reduced to around 220 (probably due to the removal of the lock-up clutch in the convertor) but much more acceleration out of corners, to the point that I had to be careful not to put the power down too early because when I did it just wanted to turn the car round. In my second session I didn't improve my times as I was just being way too careful. Brake problems at Wakefield Park during the Nationals resulting in me spearing off the track at around 170 and into (and out of) a gravel trap where all to fresh in my mind. I was worrying needlessly of course, since the pads that didn't work back then had been replaced, but the big gravel trap at turn one was still a daunting prospect if I got it wrong. The third session was slightly delayed due to a pack of kangaroos wanting to play on the edge of the track, but the Clerk of Course went and sorted them out and we were back in business. I'd found out that the car in front of me was running around the 2.08 mark so I decided I would do everything I could to stick to him.....and it worked. My time was down to 2.09 and there was still one session left. Last session, and with the fuel burnt during the day the car was down from 3/4 of a tank to under half and I hoped it would make a difference. I also pushed deeper under brakes and was supprised at just how much the stock brakes were taking. It all worked though, fastest lap was a 2.07 . I was wrapped, and so was Jen. It was a top day. The car worked faultlessly, the sun was out, I caught up with Zed people, and took 6 seconds off my old time. Wrapped it all up with beer and pizza back at Cassa Del Wykked with Mikey, Jack and the family:zlove:
Pix from the digital camera inside ... the film shots will have to wait till I shoot a few more off. Good to see the improvement in times, both against previous runs and on the day. I'm hoping to be back on track for Calder . Waiting in pit lane - again! This was after the session was red flagged the second time due to the kanga family wanting to get a close look at the action. Heading off out of the pits finally, on the way to 2:09's. The 2:07's came in the next session. Heading in to turn 1 at the end of pit straight. Back into the pits .... .... where the pit crew was keeping a close eye on everything . Never mind that the track display shows you've just exited turn 4 at Sandown, or that there is a Ford button in the tool bar . Thanks for the entertainment on the day, look forward to hitting the bitumen with you at the next one. And Keza, if you're reading this, compare my sig with the Wykked machine. The idea of an RZM fan club is interesting - though it would probably stop at 2 members, me and the dog!
Were all fans Up here Mikey,Don't know about the green shoe's though. Well done Pete, its all about improving your times and six seconds is a big improvment.
Videos thanks to Jack........>> Just a couple of little videos Jack too with his digital still camera. They are only between 1 and 2 meg each so no problem for dial-up uses. Turn one. http://www.neuralmotion.com/wykked/pi_180905-2.avi Turn four (Honda Corner) and off to turn five. http://www.neuralmotion.com/wykked/pi_180905-4.avi Down the straight, and a good indication of speed. The pink Silvia was easily reeled in. http://www.neuralmotion.com/wykked/pi_180905-8.avi
