Well here we go, my first Group buy  :zlove:

    The Product
    Overdrive Water Pump Pulley

    Who can benefit
Anyone who has installed an Under drive crank pulley, or anyone who intends to buy one in the future.

    Who can not benefit
If you don't have and never intend to get an underdrive crank pulley.

    Description
A pulley for the water pump that has a smaller diameter, which results in the belt driving the water pump faster than if the belt was driving the stock water pump pulley. Also, as the standard clutch fan is attached to this pulley, the fan's rotational speed is increased, drawing more air through the radiator.

    Purpose
The purpose of the product is to return the Waterpump to the same amount of circulation per engine speed as the Nissan engineers intended, when the engine was designed. For this reason, it is not intended to be used with the stock crank pulley / harmonic balancer, as the water pump would then spin faster than intended, and the water may cavitate in the pump at high revs rather than flow through .

    Why is it needed?
Engine idle is a particularly stressful time for an engine, oil pressure is low, airflow through the engine bay is almost non-existent, air flow through the radiator is low, and coolant flow is minimal. Combine this with a warm or hot day, + with the added strain of your airconditioner, your cooling system is put under pressure. Then you buy an Under Drive Crank pulley to UP THE POWAH, which slows down the water pump and clutch fan by up to 20%, and the ability of the engine to keep cool is right at it's limits. On top of that, with so many FMICs around now, it can all trap in heat. Poor Zed :(
Coolant temps rise at idle by a few degrees anyway, but the stock temperature gauge never tells you this. Since I run Datascan every day that I drive the Zed, I know the cooling characteristics like the back of my hand. Since installing my UD crank Pulley, the temps run higher across the board, but at idle, with the Airconditioner on, on a 26 degree day, my coolant temps would slowly rise to about 96 degs, whereas before the UD crank pulley was installed, the coolant temperature would stay around 83 degrees. After installing the prototype today, everything has returned to normal.

    How is it made
The pulley is made from 4140 billet high tensile steel. It is machined on both faces, the v's for the belts are then machined, and it is finished off with the placement of the mounting holes and centre locator.

How much power will I lose
Less than one horse power. Since the percentage of the power increase from installing the under drive crank pulley that comes from underdriving the accessories is only 10-15%, and we are only overdriving one of those accessory pulleys, we are talking about a percentage of a percentage of 22 Horsepower for a TT, you can not notice the difference.

What about my fan belt, will I need a shorter one?
Not knowing what size belt you have, that's a hard one. There was enough adjustment in mine for me to be able to continue using the same fan belt.

    Pricing
Price for the pulley will be $180 inc GST (postage extra) if we get 10 or more or $200 inc GST (postage extra) for under 10. Local pickups welcome, you QLDrs know where I am :D

How hard is it to install
It's piece of cake. About 30 minutes work in all. Simply loosen off the belt adjustment at the alternator, remove the belt from the pulley, remove the clutch fan and waterpump pulley. Refit and replace with the new gear, replace and tighten the belt.

Feel free to post up questions.
If you want to go in the group buy, either post up your intent, PM me or email me. I will run the GB for three weeks, so it will end on Saturday the 7th of october. Once we have numbers we will know if we have enough interest to get the better price, and then I will ask all moneys to be in by the following Saturday the 14th of October, I will then place the order. Once I place the order, I expect it to be 6-9 days your door depending on whee you are, that's allowing 2-3 days for production lead time, and 1-3 days for postage. If lead times change, I will let you know in due course.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    In Summary
Group buy ends on October the 7th
Cost $180-$200 + postage depending on quantity
    Money in by October 14th
Hope to supply all by October 24th (just in time for the summer heat :D

Here are the pictures of the the Stock water pump pulley compared to the new over drive pulley, and an installed picture.

OK, looks like we have passed the minimum numbers,

I will be working out the freight tomorrow to all the capital cities and metro areas, if you are outside of metro areas, can you post up or PM me your postcode, then I can give everyone "exact" individual amounts to pay :D

well since i will most probably buy the UD pulley with the 100k kit i might aswell buy this to be on the safe side. Just one question, since it is smaller where would i get the appropriate belt/belts to suit it? i know the Kit will come with belts to suit the UD pulley, what about this one ?

If you are getting the K-Zed kit

you shouldn't have a problem, I am using that kit, and there was enough adjustment to just tighten the existing belt that is supplied in the kit, however, if you let Rob know that you are getting one of these pulleys, then Rob will supply a 970 belt instead of a 980. Both belt sizes will work, but the 970 will give a greater scope for tightening adjustments etc.
