My Dad is going over to the U.S and has a brief stay in Tokyo.
Just wondering how many of you have bought parts first hand from Japan and what is the best way to go.. also on which parts are the biggest savings made, when buying direct from Japan, or is it even worth it after taxes and whatnot... Have tried searching the web and this site for people who have done this but haven't found much. Few things needed but not in a rush. .

-Clutch kit (old one on its way out)
-Suspension (shocks and possibly springs.. maybe coilovers if cheaper over there)
    -Guages (boost, water temp)
    -ConZult cables and software

Car has done an alledged 107000kms imported in 97, and had supposedly already had the 100000km service

    already has
    -apexi pod from fleet
    -HID kit
    -lowered springs(old)
    -rims etc.

If you know of any good places in tokyo or have any suggestions for other parts to get from over there i would appreciate any advice. cheers

    i think

you would save a few $$ on the 1st 2 items, but the conzult cable /software and the gauges dont think there's any saving on those.

conzult (the software with that name) isnt even from japan. it was written by a bloke called eric. think hes from holland anyhow he is usualy hanging around on the ztechz forum. either way the conzult s/w is rather expensive. it does have a few more fetures than datascan. but i think you will find that datascan does everything you want and its only like $25 (cables just under $100 from memory)

sorry cant give any advice on how to go about geting items in japan.

    hey mate,
just be wary of carrying these parts through on the way home. if its something worth quite a bit, customs will sting you for it.
guess it also depends what your dad is happy carrying.

Lol not a joke that was the plan! Yeah just found some EXEDY clutches through ebay based in the US for the TT 300zx for under 200 and with a racing flywheel for 320! that seems pretty cheap dont know about after taxes and all that though?

    Same here!!

I posted a similar request recently as I'm heading over to Japan in November!
I'm hoping to bring back parts that don't weigh too much??........maybe plastic 2000spec tail lights & centre panel, some Ganador Super mirrors, etc......only problem is they are 'bulky' items! so I'm thinking I'll need a bigger bag! :p

I hope to get coilovers & ship them back myself via Jap Post

    http://www.post.japanpost.jp/english/index.html (thanks Glenn!)

25kg's is only around $150AUD I think via surface mail?? I'll just label it as a gift, wrap it in a plain box & say the value is less than $1000! :p

but Sandeep gave me this info!

    http://www.turbomagazine.com/features/0405tur_jdm_crystal_auto_parts/index.html

So far I've had no luck finding 'Crystal' on the net???
so if anyone knows of where to find these stores in Japan then please post it up as I'd love to know?? ;) .......& I'm sure others would as well! :zlove:

You can also look at Perfectrun:

they will deliver FREE OF CHARGE to anywhere in Tokyo!!!!
