Mate i have had my car at magic performance, they are right round the corner from me, best to call them direct and see what thy say about it, if you need anything picked up from there let me know as it is literally less than 5 mins drive, they must be marking up the price as it is a business selling them on ebay so i would think magic direct would be cheaper, if that is true, possibel group buy, magic is a fairly small outfit but are around in the drift and Drag scene

Here are some facts on Metallic Substrate Catalytic Converters:

Metallic Substrates are superior to traditional Ceramic Substrates which have been used by the previous "name brands" of high flow catalytic converters. This is because the walls of the substrate are thinner, allowing greater flow.

MAGIC Metallic Substrate Catalytic Converters flow up to 50% more than their traditional competitors. Fitting a MAGIC Cat has been shown to increase power by up to 40HP at the wheels.

Catalytic Converter substrates are coated with material which produces changes in the gases which pass over them. The more cells per square inch the more effective is the catalytic process because there is more surface area.

Magic Cats are constructed with a 300 cell per square inch metallic substrate, and 304 stainless steel body.

Any catalytic converter which is not a direct fit replacement for the original will need modification to fit a vehicle's exhaust, or the exhaust modified to fit the cat.

    MAGIC is a registered trademark.

Magic Performance is an Australian business
Our Australian Business Number (ABN) is 18097792437
We have street front address which is 25 Carter Road, Brookvale, NSW 2100
We have a workshop with a NSW Vehicle Repairer's License
We can fit any product we sell or advise your prefered fitter on correct procedures.

Magic Cats have been independently flow tested against major competitors products.

Magic Performance provide a range of products to fit 3 inch, 3 1/2 inch and 4 inch exhausts.

Magic Performance is the only supplier of Metallic Substrate Catalytic Converters in Australia with inlet and outlet of four inches.

If you have any questions about extreme flow catalytic converters, phone Magic Performance on 02 99391644 or post here. We actually know what we are doing, not just selling the product.

    Cheers,

    The team at MAGIC PERFORMANCE

Taken from the Supra Forum with interest in a GB at february this year, Magic is a legit company and in sydney, try them first

Sounds like a crock of shit to me.

Back to back dynos of no cats Vs. high flows of the non substrate variety on a 500whp car revealed losses of only 2-3 whp when used with cats. I can't imagine a substrate cat getting gains over no cats.

Hell! theres no way a cat will have any gains over no cats!!

CATs are NOT performance products, they're they are all exhaust restricting polution stoppers! nothing more:eek:
Sure some cats will flow better than others, but for pure performance, cats are restrictive.
And yes we should be doing our bit to save the ozone ay;) :zlove:

Wow, alot of talk on cats lately... A couple of things with these

    1)Biscuit tends to come loose
2)Flow bench results are craaaaaap, ask them what the bench was set at...
3)Yellow sticker material as do not comply with AUS emissions standards, if they did they would be stamped
4)300 cell not so great for high flow performance

If you want a genuine high performance cat (that comlies with AUS emissions requirements etc) I can supply metalcat which you have probably seen advertised in zoom etc. Good quality (warrantied) I use them on my car as do a few other forum members who have bought through me. Here's what the Metalcat ppl say about magic etc

Please also note we are happy to be tested against ANY cat in the marketplace . There has been a flux of outrageous figures claimed with companies not stating what the maximum flow rate on the flow bench is set at. These 'brands' are quoting figures to look good and fool the end user. This is especially holds true to the Magic and 'Xforce'Chinese illegal cats. We encourage you to 'TRY" find the CA stamp on the body of their catalytic converter. You won't as it does not exist, as they are ILLEGAL. Why not as an exercize call them and ask them to fax you through their EPA/CARB/Euro test results from factory? And finally , these companies are quoting cfm figures without what the bench flowrate was set at. Why do they find it necessary to lie? The answer is simple, they have an inferior product.

    More info here
    http://www.metalcat.com.au/

    • 100% stainless construction
    • Genuine 200 cell design (better flow)

Anyway as I said I have an account with these guys and happy to provide for performance members. We looked at doing a GB on these ages ago at $280/cat delivered (so $560/pair) but most people thought this a bit pricey. With cats like the one you linked to selling for $500+ maybe that puts it all in perspective?

Anyway PM me if you want a set of metalcats
