Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you went through this and has painted their calipers one colour and the NISSAN text on the calipers another colour. What would be the best technique to paint the TEXT another colour (of course) without getting it on the main caliper??

Please let me know coz i'm kinda stuck..thanks

(i tried spraying the paint on my finger and then smudging it on the TEXT but it doesnt work too well coz the paint is to runny.)

I have a feeling there is a few threads on this if you use the search function but from memory one method was to spray the whole caliper then sand off the embossed NISSAN and paint in the colour you desire with a paintbrush. Could be wrong though.

    Well when i painted mine

I used some marine grease which i applied over the nissan writing, then sprayed the high heat rating spraypaint over the top, left that to dry then used a knife to take that grease off and thus leaving the original nissan writing on and the red paint in the area's which it should be, easy as pie :)

There was a pretty good post about it several forums ago but that post is now long gone. My advice would be to paint the whole caliper the base colour then mask off everything but the nissan logo and then paint it. You might be able to use a small candle to wax over bits you dont want the paint to stick to (in between the letters) and then clean the painted wax bits off after your finished (or mask with small bits of tape if your patient), Im pretty sure in that old post someone even used grease in between the letters!. Dont forget to cover the rotor before painting if you dont like the painted rotor effect (not to mention the rest of the car!)
If you havent painted car bits before just speak up and there will be a flood of advice:zlove:

I just repolished all my brake calipers last weekend while installing my new EBC rotors and pads. I polished them to a mirror finish with my dremel years ago, their are now very pretty:D . Gonna have to get them coated one of these days so they are easier to keep clean.

The probably cheapest solution is to cover the nissan writing in vasoline. NO JOKES the after paint has dried on calliper wipe of nissan lettering. Then when you standing back and admiring your art work you can use the vasoline to......,..:D

    Painting Nissan Calipers

    hey mate,
i painted mine about 6 months ago.
i painted the calipers, then i got a some sandpaper and a block, sanded the nissan writing back, then with a tiny paintbrush, a small tin of paint (hobby paint), and a steady hand i painted them.

the paint is just white hobby paint i got from a hobby shop used for wooden boats etc., and its lasted all this time!

if you need pics i can take a couple and post them for you.
    cheers
    Jay
