Guys, How much should replacing a water pump cost on a zed? Can those who did it tell me how it cost them at a mechanic? I took my car to a mechanic and told me that it he will have to take out alot of stuff to take the water pump out. He also suggested that he would also replace the timing belt and pullies since it will bea easy for him to do so.(How deep is this water pump). He quoted me 1500 dollars. I asked him to only do the belt and he told me that it would be my responsiblity if I heard sounds or saw oil leaking. My second question can you guys suggest good mechanics in the the sydney western suburbs? I am extremely frustrated!
if your water pump needs replacing, you can bet you havent had the 100k service.. your looking at around 1500 for a proper job that includes... water pump, bearings, auto tensioner... sprockets, cam seals, springs and a whole lot more. if your in WA i know that the only person i trust 2 do a 100 k is tom aka ZRATED. he did mine and his attention 2 detail is quite disturbing
Try Autotech Engineering 18 - 20 George St Granville. Ph:98971378 Excellent mechanics & know Zeds very well. Cheers Kerry
This car had the engine rebuilt a couple of years ago, so it might have had it back then. It has only done 140K and it is a an aussie complied 1990 model.(complied in 1998). You think it hasnt had the service? how much does that Granville mechanic charge?
it's best not to "hope" it has had the 100k service, if you don't know, bite the bullet, spend the money, have peace of mind, $1500 odd now is much better than 7 or 8 k down the track
Do it it's 8k for me!!! And NEVER take a Z to any mechanic other than recomended by people on this forum... forget your mates who drive other cars. I was up for a new engine because an average mechanic did my 100k service!!!
I was very close to being in the same boat, the backyard blitz holden man forgot to change my cam seals and at 150k they leaked oil all over the timing belt and f***ed it. Luckily i saw it coming out of the timing cover and had the 200k done well early. Your better off to spend twice as much if someones going to do it properly, also alot of weekend warrior mechanics dont change the tensioner... which is bad
the full 100kkm kit from k-zed is around $725 .. add to this 7-8 hours labour ( at whatever your mechanics hourly rate is ) and you will have the full job done .. should be around $1400-1500 max ...
