    Sooo hello everyone...

My engine has just blown and apart from being rather dissapointed and annoyed I now have to find a means of replacing it.. Currently I have a NA auto 1990 Z and I want to convert it to a TT manual...This hopefully will be a build thread that I will update as I undertake this conversion.

Just to Fill you in on how the engine blew I was driving my car fairly hard and probably made it shit itself...and now Its knocking like a bitch and instead of racking up a ridicoulous repair bill on an NA motor I've decided to convert it instead..

Will be updating pictures and thread soon as i take out engine...

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Wreck it, and buy a TT manual with the profits + some of the money you'd have used for the conversion. But that depends on your knowledge of Zeds, patience and love of your NA...

I would lose money if i decided to wreck this car as i have already spent 20k round about, its more worthwhile doing a conversion for me for that and also its sentimental value...I love this car alot and its a bitch sometimes but its still awesome :)

so remove the aftermarket / valuable parts and place them on your new zed?

Alot of the value has come from the reworking of the body, sound componentry complete interior etc...so I'm more inclined to use my current ZED, that and i kind of want to undergo doing the conversion process, although it may throw many headaches my way...I already have a possible donor car lined up so fingers crossed this will happen soon...

    not too hard

If you have a donor car to sit side by side with yours then the conversion is not really that hard. Here's a tip or two, use an NA clutch assembly as the TT one with the vacuum booster is a bit of a pita to get in under the dash, also you have to change your power steering lines that run around the front of the motor across the radiator support panel, thw NA ones will foul on the intercooler piping and make it near impossible to get them in. The rest is pretty straight forward.
Good luck with it and enjoy, Andy

Hey all just another update to keep you posted...found a definent donor car and getting all my bits from that and transplanting them into my car...getting Autosport in Kirrawee to do the swaps for me and I've asked them to document the process. Swap includes changing the motor, Manual transmission swap, ECU swap, new exhaust fabrication, new tailshaft, new Diff, new rotors, basically a mechanically new car...fingers crossed everything will go according to plan and ill be sure to keep you guys updated.

Also my car has gone into the workshop today to start the engine pull heaps excited to see my baby getting fixed...gonna miss her though

Tektrader Z32 Hoe, service me baby

You MUST use a TT clutch BUT continue to use the NA master, pedals etc. You can hardly tell the difference between the 2 as regards pedal force.

The NA system is just a touch harder to push in.

There is a massive difference in clamp force between a TT and NA clutch. Its really needed on a TT engine at 14 psi.

    Okay just another quick update...

Donor car has been stripped of mechanical bits in the workshop and the job is now properly started in 1 week they have fabricated most of my intercooler piping, put in the motor and manual transmission, as well as fitting my new pedal box and manual shifter, with the bits to go with in the interior. I took a few photos as I was able to have a look at it on saturday hopefully i'll be able to upload them later today :)...

Oh and despite the motor being in it's not yet running because the intercooler isn't finished and same with the exhaust etc... fingers crossed I won't have any probs and hopefully it will be all finished on friday!

And also the timing belt, all drive belts, water pump and all the seals have been replaced :)
