I've an OS Giken TS2BD competition twin-plate clutch for z32na and features dampened clutch discs with a matching lightweight chrome-moly flywheel. TS2BD =... TS - Pressed steel cover 2 - Twin plate B - 204mm D - Spring Damper This won't suit my application and i've gone out and bought another OS Giken clutch, so this one has to go. I've measured the thickness of the new clutch plate from my new clutch kit and also the thickness of the ones I'm selling: new = 4.0mm mine = 3.3mm You can see the measurements in the pictures attached including plenty of 'meat' remaining on the plate - both plates are in the same condition, as well pics of the condition of all parts and you are more than welcome to inspect it in person. I'm located in Sydney/Ryde (near Macquarie shopping centre). new = $2300 http://www.otomoto.com.au/osgiken/competition_twin_plate.htm mine = $999ono EDIT: turns out i can't post attachments, please leave your email and i will send them to you. cheers
from memory i beleive that 3.3mm was the bottom wear limit for these clutchs before they require a full rebuild... ryan
bollocks. my old osgiken twin plate clutch started slipping when it had 0mm meat left on the plates. the plates on this kit here has the following eyeball measurements: plate = 1mm @ overestimation meat = 2mm @ underestimation used = 1mm based on the above facts, the clutch is used 33%. i still have the old plates, the new plates, and these plates all here - all available to inspect for a limited time, before the new clutch gets installed. will weigh the kit on my analogue bathroom scales this weekend
you do not seem to know what you are talking about. how do you suggest you measure the wear on a single plate clutch? going clockwise from top left: Clutch disk, pressure plate, clutch cover, center plate, Clutch disk (os giken terminology) you measure wear on the clutch disks - that is what wears out. fyi i went and measured the "metal sandwich plate" ie: centre plate...... new = 4.5mm used = 4.4mm weight of the full kit = 12 to 13kg, analogue bathroom scales tend to do that :rolleyes2:
this is what i was told when i bought a 2nd hand unit and went to fit it... it was under so i didnt fit. gl with the sale nehow...
new clutch going in in a fortnights' time, last chance to view NEW vs USED. all offers considered :zlove:
After machining minimum thickness of the friction material should be roughly 0.050" or just over 1mm. Thats a standard ruling for single clutch plate's.
this doesn't suit me because i'm doing a gearbox conversion that needs a different clutch to go with it... hence my name "iwantyourgearbox" :lame: machine friction material? you don't machine the clutch discs... ever ever
Some of the teeth on the flywheel have been chipped by the starter motor and Western Clutch Service (in Sydney, have a wealth of experience working with OS Giken clutches) quoted a worst case of $200 to fix, most likely case is $150, and a best case of $100. With that in mind, I'll take off the cost of the worst case and also an extra $100 off for good faith. Price now only: $600!
