I know this has probably been covered a thousand times, but how much did the TT 300zx cost when it was new??? I've searched, but I couldn't find it.

    About 4,300,000Yen.

The TT was never actually sold here so any figure in Aussie$ would just be a guess.

    I came within a bee's **** of buying the

last 25th Anniversary Aussie spec Zed in Australia in 1996.

Cullen's of Concord had it and they were asking $96,000. I didn't buy it because I didn't particularly like the 25th anniversary bodykit and I'm not too fond of boy racer red :D .(Yeah, I know the red ones are faster)

I planned to have another look in the following year at the 97 model, except there never was one.:(

can probably assume they would have been around $80k plus going by the price of NA's when new

I remember when they (z32) first came out, the nissan dealer said, you won't get change from $75,000, and yep, tt was special import. I don't remember if that was for a 2seater, or 2+2 though. What would you be paying for the same car today??????

and to think, now I have a Zed far better than original performance for less than the original cost, pretty cool hey? :zlove:

    red32 You talkin' to me?

The Aus-specs (NA, 2+2, Targa) rose steadily from $68,000 in 1990 to, as Barry said, $96,000 in 1996 (prices from "Motor Manual" (later just "Motor") and "Wheels" New Car prices entries for those years (I think "Motor" listed them as $98,000 in '96)). You could probably have whacked on an extra 40-50G for the TT (- the Skyline was around the 130-150G)

That's what killed it, the production costs were too high and the price was getting insane to compensate for it. The majority of people (Americans) weren't really prepared to pay such extreme amounts of money for a Z car especailly when the original 240Z was dirt cheap. This is where the controversy comes in. Some purists feel that Nissan alienated the original Z car fan base because it went from a bare bones sports car cheaper and faster than anything else in it's class to a fully decked out GT car still faster than anything else in its class but now it was hell expensive.

The Z car evolved, I dont consider it as bad as some make it out to be but I do understand the arguement. You can always rip out the extra bullshit if you dont want it though i.e power steering, air conditioning and so on. It's hard to pull that stuff from your ass though if you actually do want it. I love all Z's for what they are, aslong as you can appreciate the era in which each was released and what the market called for etc they all have thier place.

it is awsome, and we owe that to the badge (good or bad).

If this was a porshe or ferrari of the same performance and pedigree, it would not have depreciated anywhere near this fast.

Yet, as the Z32 was considered a sports car, many were treated like the above euro brands and were loved and polished and hardly driven

Its a rare time we live in I think, where these awsome cars (not just zeds) are affordable to the average joe, even though many are in near new condition.

yeah something like 3 million on each car.. they made it just to prove they could

anyway.. $96,000 on a brand new zed and no cup holders.... jipped!

didn't some one do a write up in the carsguide awhile ago saying the 300zx was the best value for money sports car one could buy

dont think you need a write up to convince you though on that one...think of anyone car that looks like the zed and performs close to it in the price margin......something that is similar is the GTR r32 which is still around the 20k mark and lacks a few luxury goodies etc.....

check out othe sports cars for the same money if not more...the MR2, 200sx, 180sx, r33(gets more than a zed)...all these are no comparision for the zed, yet they share a similar price tag......

these days yes. Probably ok back in the day also, but think about the cost of a 2nd hand zed these days. Awesome value really, except for maintenance

Thats it, lots of people can afford to buy a Z but not alot of people can afford to maintain one. You always see endless posts on here and elsewhere by people who bought a Z and spent money on worthless crap they dont need - one thing breaks - no money left - car gets sold! lol

"300ZX for sale, blown headgasket but fully sick body kit mang!" :D
