Well well here I am after a few years since my last design threads in my quest to make a kit. My CNC machine is pretty much ready and Ive been going through lots of concepts... so Ive decided to start out with a front conversion kit for starters and this Ferrari Italia look is what I like.

I find it very masculine like the R390 and it still retains some of the Nissan characteristics.

What I would like to know is which one of these designs is more appealing to you guys, the right one or the left... thanks!

The one on the right looks better.

Why are they covered in weird black spots/lines though?

What software are you trying to video / render that in?

If they are CAD models or something, might be easier if you exported the model into 3dsMAX so you can render the models out better (ie. like a proper turntable animation instead of dragging the mouse)

on topic - the one on the right has more aggressive headlights which makes it more appealing IMO

The one the right looks decent, what do you mean when you say "nissan characteristics"

Remove the obstructions to viewing the car and run it again. Closer up too.

I think I'm Stevie Wonder viewing that video I can't see shit.

Are they not both the same body / bonnet and the only differance is in the lights ?

I found the environment models from this user
    http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?uq=0685384724091954877664972&scoring=m

It has a smiling grill like the 99 sped Zed bumper and R390... its also wide and sharp like the Datsun.

The left square headlight design looks more like a Nissan and the angled headlight design looks sinister but also looks more like a Ferrari replica (not that I care its a copy)... seeing how I like both, I wonder what others think. I also made a thread at VWVortex.com to get some opinions.

Yes, headlights are the only difference.

Whoops forgot to add these replys, its 5am, Im off to sleep.

The models are sectioned together in a rough matter and they also have hood billets/rivets.

I use Sketchup and a render plugin... I also use Deep Explorer for the usual render videos I make. I have Maya and Max but Im too lazy to learn those yet

Left one, the headlights on the right are too pointy to go with the rest of the car

the one on the left is more viable to build , because it could be made to work with stock headlights (or possibly made to use 350z headlights which are a similar shape?)unlike the right hand side version.

...pretty sure that guy in the video is jerking-off!
    Other than that, good work.

Pretty cool renders. Yeah they can be polished some more but the work gone into them can be appreciated.

I like the left zed. The one on the right reminds me too much of the LFA.

I also think this design youre playing with will compliment a subtle wide body. Not sure if thats what you've tried to go with, but with the colouring/rendering it throws off a wide body image. And i like it.

When you have time, can you play with it and polish the images, and repost them. Like the look. Be nice to see them in higher res.

Having the headlights spread out is one of the biggest enhancements I think, which also gives a wider appearance.
After this I'll try a new interior kit like Infiniti Essence's and possibly make a widebody after or do a whole new design with a widebody.

Here are top view renders of the cars

Totaling this forum and the other, the choices came out to 8-4 for the squared headlights. I'll make the squared kit first but will make a second hood for the sharp eyed design after. I think the sharp style could work over the stock ZX ones, just that it would overlap the high beams a bit... and probably make it not pass inspection, so they would have a risk of use. Never mind a police ticket but if one was to get into an accident, insurance companies might use it as an excuse of void coverage and not pay out.

    I LOL'd, and thanks.

    no they arent....

they arent "what the z linage was meant to be" as it is your version of a conversion kit... thus not linage, modification

and looking at those pics the front tip of the car is all thats changed..

oh and attempting to put a rear engine intake vent in the door of a front engine car.

Renault bought into Nissan well before the 350z and said no more copying.
Its obvious the 350 doesnt have the same feel as the 300z or the Italia/430/360... there has been a pattern in the past and to me it doesnt end at the 300zx.

i know what you mean by linage but what im saying is you didnt design something fresh and new to continue said linage, you just changed the head lights and curved the bumper... thats not evolution, thats modification

thats like getting the S13, chopping it and putting the 180 front end on to make the sil80 and calling it the new design, the next generation in nissan sports car...

its not.. its just a 13 with a face lift
